FLAAR is a card game that was created by RAs Matt, Jeff, and Laurie (from this point on refered to as FLAAR Masters). It was run as an activity at least once per week, with a Make Your Own FLAAR once per session. The best way to describe FLAAR is by saying "FLAAR cannot be described, but only experienced." Play will often become intense. It was described by Matt as the zaniness of Flux with the anger of Illuminati. They also made a game called Scroggle.

Rules

The rules are simple

In your turn:

  1. Draw a card.
  2. Play a card.
  3. Justify ALL other actions.

Winning

At the beginning of every game session FLAAR Master Matt will ask the group "How do you win in FLAAR" and the response is "By winning." Some cards will facilite this better then others, such as "Make up a rule" and "Make up a Wacky Rule."

Rules

  • The dealer deals each person two cards.
  • The person the chooses to hit or stand.
  • After everyone has completed this process the dealer will judge each persons hand and choose a winner based on the strength of the connection between the cards. This is part of where the groups come in.

Making Your Own FLAAR

It is very simple to make your own FLAAR deck. Just follow these steps.

  1. Gather a pile of blank index cards.
  2. On the first, write the rules
  3. Make up as many crazy cards as you want. Use the list above as a spring board if you need help.

FLAAR at Lancaster

FLAAR had become popular at Lancaster in the summer of 04, however died out soon afterwards. Then in 08.1, the Fast Paced High School Physics Class B TA, Lewis Klapper, decided to reinvigorate it. He created the activity "FLAAR: the Lost CTY Tradition", and used some students from his class as the FLAAR masters, who he had taught how to play earlier in the game. After the activity, FLAAR was a game that could be seen around the campus regularly, with many people cracking up at some of the plays. Lewis was contacted by the original FLAAR masters who said that they were pleased. Lewis has one card from the FLAAR prime deck in his FLAAR deck.
