Wikipedia says that Fruitopia was discontinued in the US in the late 1990s. Which means that the bottle is very likely to be as old as it's said to be. How very nasty. --Sammka 11:53, 2 September 2006 (MST)

Given that Matthew seems to have started it and he didn't edit the date, I think we can be pretty sure it's 2000.  Which would also match up with the grocery trip.

The Fruitopia was passed to me this year, and I can give photo proof that the copyright on the label says 1999. Since they generally update copyright labels every year, this is pretty good evidence that it was purchased in '99. Clcrhiggaeeermo 07:47, 11 August 2008 (PDT)

For the record, I did not die after drinking from the Fruitopia. I had a cough for about two weeks, which may or may not have been related, with no other symptoms, and then it went away. So it's not lethal yet. And we've been freezing it instead of refrigerating it. Charlie 01:48, 30 August 2009 (PDT)

I would like to know how this bottle predates me. It seems quite improbable that the bottle was around during any passionfruit I attended. Being the emperor 01.1, I happened to have a bottle I asked for and took and saved from 00.1. However, after sipping from it, I dumped it out because it was Quite Nasty (maybe someone else had a taste, but I'm pretty sure we didn't drink it all). More importantly, I'm pretty sure that this bottle did not last nine years. If someone could offer up some more serious proof, I'll believe you. But for now, I'd like to request that the number of years be withheld until it can be formally determined. ~Ken Levin, backbeatATgmail, 98-01
