HDIS started as a college course~~ Dr. Ted taught until one summer he decided to try to introduce it to CTY. It was notable for being a science and humanities course and is extremely popular. Doctor Ted is notable for his use of cultural analysis which consisted of him showing clips of disney movies (e.x. Little Mermaid, and the rape scene in Mary Poppins) and finding the cultural steretypes and inuendo in those movies.
