Well, this is the first time I have visited my userpage, and the first thing that I saw was the exclamation above.  I would like to thank [[User: Emmatheduck| Emma]] for giving me such a warm welcome.  And because she's my beloved roommate, and I CTY her, I'll leave that comment up.

My name is Lizzy, as is indicated by my username.  I grew up in Colorado, but looked to the west and found myself at LMU.  I think that the things I would be best known for include wearing nothing but pink to every 2009 dance, glowstringing, cubing, and generally acting ridiculous with a group of PCTYDers in matching shirts.  We were proud, we were obnoxious, and we were gloriously young.

At CTY, I considered myself a traditionalist. I advocated for the preservation of most canon songs, and tried to add some traditions from other sites. My friends and I also tried to start a few traditions, such as glorifying Dane Holding and singing Bananaphone loudly in groups in an effort to disturb the peace. We played Blammo, Wanna Buy a Duck, and many games of Silent Football.

Because I love CTY at LMU so much, I am working to make $1500, so my parents will allow my to double-session in my nevermore/nomore year.  My first session will be at LOS, my second at LAN.  For LAN, I'm doubting Utopias and Dystopias will still be open for doublesessioning.  I'm considering Cognitive Psychology or one of the writing courses.

I want to become a lawyer, but Emma thinks I should be a psychologist.  This is because I gave her therapy, and now she is more sane than she was before.  I have tried to tell her that I haven't really made much progress, (as the comment at the top of this page illustrates) but she is convinced that I am a miracle worker.  I consider this delusion a symptom of insanity.  She also has a habit of masquerading as other people.  This is why the comment clearly made by her appears as made by me.  I am a therapist type because people tend to tell me things they'd never tell anyone else.  If you meet me, and you end up telling me something, know that trust will never be misplaced.  I'm good at keeping secrets.

My midwestern location is both a blessing and a curse.  I cannot come to any reunions for CTYers who went to LMU, but I get to see snow every year.  There is another psuedo-CTY program here at Denver University, called "Rocky Mountain Talent Search."  It has now taken to calling itself CITY, Center for Innovative and Talented Youth.  This is a cheap attempt to copy CTY.  CTY is much better, and therefore, much more successful, than RMTS.  I attended a psychology class at RMTS in summer of '06, and found it rather boring, and not nearly as fun as CTY.

===Poi Twirling/Glowstringing===

'''I AM EVIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!'''
Poi Twirling is the Ancient Polynesian art of whirling balls of fire around in the air.  I do it with two plastic LED balls attached to the ends of strings.  For more information on glowstringing, click [[Glowsticking|here]].

*Turns

*Angel Wings (I made this move up.  I think I may have seen it performed, so it probably has another name)

**In this move, the right poi goes full circle behind the back, while the left poi circles in front.  Then they switch.

*Sleeping Butterfly (Once again, I made this up, so I have no clue whether it has another name.)

**In this move, I begin with a basic butterfly, drop to my knees, bend over backwards until my back touches the ground, with both poi above my body.  Then I slide out my feet, stand up with the butterfly over my head, and lead out into a chase.

===Cubing===

I have been cubing since CTY 07.1.  I currently use the Fridrich F2L intuitive and Leyan Lo's easy LL with a few advanced LL algs.

==Forevermore==

I'm an active poster on [http://www.postctydepression.com PCTYD].  I am the Literature Editor and Managing Editor of the currently inactive ''Forevermore''- the PCTYD magazine.  If you have a submission for it, please visit [http://postctydepression.com/magazine/ The Forevermore Home Page.]

The first two issues are available for download, and we would appreciate anyone willing to give the magazine new life.

==LMU Traditions Committee==

I began the official movement for more tradition in LMU, having thought it over months before CTY began. Though there were students who were more traditional than I was, I was the one to name the group, and start discussing what we were going to do.  That being said...

LMUers! Are you frusterated with the logy of traditions? Do you want to hear more of ''Nightswimming'', and less of ''Lip Gloss''? Then, please leave a comment in the discussion section of my Userpage! We need a group of people to spread tradition to every hall, to every dorm from Desmond to Doheny. We must not forget our Squirrels, we must not let them miss out on the things that make CTY different from other nerd camps.  Let us bring about a brighter era of tradition!

*08.1 Progress: We defended the area of traditions at all three dances, with minimal mistakes.  We also introduced some traditions from other sites, including Silent Football, Wanna Buy a Duck, and Blammo.  We created new trends, such as "HI DANE" and Bananaphone.  What would be a good idea for next year?

I am a forevermore, and between 2007 and 2009, CTY was my life. I made some of my closest friends, people I intend to keep contact with for the rest of my life. CTY made a huge mark on me, and I like to think I made a small contribution to its history.

I attended:

  • LOS 08.1 MIND (Nathalie's Hall, Huesman)
  • LOS 09.1 LAWP (Jacqui's Hall, Desmond)
  • LOS 09.2 ETHC (Gia's Hall, Desmond)

I was the top poster on PCTYD from 2008 or so until the present, and was an admin. While I was there, I opened a CafePress store selling PCTYD branded items, and started and edited Forevermore, the PCTYD Web Magazine.

When I first visited this page, my CTY roommate Emma posted the following. I leave it up for posterity:
