The Dating Game is an Acting Improv Game.
Participants
- 1 Player
- 3 or more Bachelors/Bachelorettes
There is no game show host; there is one person asking the bachelors questions -- that is the player.
How does it work?
The AI circle first chooses the player and bachelors. Then, the player is expelled out of earshot. The circle then guietly decides on a "quirk" for each bachelor, much like in Party Quirks. When each bachelor has a quirk, the player is called back. Then, the bachelors arange themselves in a line facing the player. Each bachelor is designated by a number which the player uses to ask a question, which is chosen depending on their place in line.
Now, we begin the question and answer period. The player choses a bachelor, and asks them a question. For example, the player may say, "Bachelor #3: Where would you take me on a date?" Then, the bachelor answers in a manner according to their quirk. The bachelors need not be asked in a particular order, but it is polite not to question a bachelor twice in a row.
Through these questions and answers, the player tries to deduce each of the bachelors' quirks. If the player thinks s/he knows one of the bachelors' quirks, then s/he asks the bachelor if the guess is correct. If the player guesses wrong, play continues. If the guess is true but not exactly the quirk, the bachelor/circle answers "Yes, but that's not the quirk" or something else to that extent. If the guess is right on target, or extremely close, then the bachelor/circle answers "Yes!" and the Bachelor whose quirk was correctly guessed sits down. Play continues until all the Bachelors' quirks have been guessed.
Notable Moments
At CTY Kaneohe the talent show was exhibiting an improv dating game and as the audience shouted out who each bachelor should be, with the bachelorette away of course, an RA chose who should be what, with the final decision being Cookie Monster, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and an old lady on a roller coaster. The questions were, "If you were a fruit, what fruit would you be?", "If you had a super power, what would it be?", "Where would you take me on our first date?", and "What physical feature do you like best in a girl?" The Cookie Monster was most popular indeed.
