Individually Paced Math Sequence is different from pretty much every other course at CTY: on the first day, students in Math Sequence, instead of settling into their dorms as usual, take a 2 hour long Algebra test. The first day, students are given a large packet of math problems and told to begin. From then on, all they do is work on these problems, only speaking with the instructor if they have a question.
Not surprisingly, Math Sequence has a reputation as the course peoples' parents make them take.
As bad as Math Sequence sounds, it also has its strange benefits. First of all, since it's an individual class, most teachers allow students to listen to mp3 players/CD players. Also, since it's not highly monitored, if you get bored you can just do something else. Finally, it's not all that bad because most Math Sequence classes do have class activities that have absolutely nothing to do with what they're learning, but are pretty fun.
Hilariously, the initials of this course are IPMS.
