On Campus
Doheny Hall
Boys dorm (girls dorm until 2006) across from Sullivan Academic Center (a.k.a. the CTY office.) It is relatively close to anywhere on campus you would want to go. An elevator that only RAs can use take you up and down between the three floors. The laundry room is found on the second floor, and often there is a waiting list for the washers/dryers. Vending machines are right inside the dorm entrance, so be sure to bring extra change with you. In rooms there are two rather smelly walk-in closets, one mirror, and one sink. Showers are seperated from the main bathrooms (two containing multiple stalls and showers are found on each floor) by a curtain.
Huesman Hall
A girls dorm (boys until 2006) adjacent to Doheny. It is in the shape of a U. Two bathrooms containing two stalls and three urinals are located on opposite ends of the hall. The showers are separated from the main bathroom by a doors with curtains inside, and there are metals sheves and multiple hooks to place clothes, shampoo, and towels. One of the sides of the hall ends in a dead end and the other opens up into a chapel. The laundry room is on the side of the dorms that opens into the chapel, and because it serves only one floor, there is usually no waiting for washers or dryers if you choose the right times (but don't bet on it). The vending machines are also in the laundry room, so do not buy anything that can melt, as it usually is melted. It is very hot in Huesman, so be sure to bring a fan. The rooms have two wardrobes.
Desmond Hall
A girls dorm that was under construction in 2006. Located across from Rosecrans and in front of Whelan. The CTY picture is taken from the roof of Desmond looking down onto the Rosecrans Courtyard.
Each room has two closets, two loft-style long twin beds, two desks (useless, as homework is prohibited) and one sink, with mirror. Not all rooms have doorstops. The ceilings are lower than in Huesman. It is a comfortable temperature, and it has huge windows. There are shower stalls with doors.
Rosecrans Hall
A boys dorm with three floors and large windows. It is opposite Desmond. In 09.1 it was a girls dorm.
Whelan Hall
Unisex hall with three floors and very large windows. Mirrors are in the room, but no sinks. The vending machines are located near the first floor entrance. This hall is the furthest from anything/everything, like the Sullivan Courtyard, Cafeteria, and most of the classrooms. There is also roof access. In CTY 07.1 it was out of bounds for CTYers, and football or some other obnoxious camp was staying there for part of the session. They deserve it.
Sullivan Courtyard
The courtyard where kids meet before activities. In 06.1 and 2 dances and social time also took place here due to the construction in Desmond and have been since. Movie Night is also held there.
Rosecrans Courtyard
The courtyard between Desmond and Rosecrans, where Social Time and dances were held in 05.1 and 2 (and maybe all the years before that?). The CTY picture for the yearbook is taken here in the morning (usually. In 07.2 the picture was taken in the afternoon, which caused the shadow of Desmond to appear in the picture).
Cafeteria
The cafeteria is shared between CTYers, sports camp kids(think 5-10 years old), basketball camp, a speech and debate camp, and an English language camp. During session 2 lunches, getting adjacent tables for your class is insanely difficult due to all of the kids high on the unlimited cookies, brownies, and cake. LMU food is also notorious for including potatoes in every meal, and "food recycling", i.e. today's pasta looks suspiciously like the noodles from yesterday's lunch's teriyaki rice bowl. Soups are always made from the previous meal i.e. Dinner was oriental chicken. At lunch the next day, the soup is "Oriental Soup." When the sports camp is sharing lunch, there is usually a more kid-friendly menu that you may choose from if you do not like the regular lunch. Normally the sports kids have grilled cheese, hot dogs, corn dogs, or hamburgers. On the first and last day, there is usually moderately good food so that CTY parents believe their children are getting adequate nutrition.
Jamba Juice
There is a Jamba Juice on campus next to the cafeteria, heading towards Doheney courtyard. As of '06, its hours of operation were reduced to a four-hour window of 10AM-2PM, but it made very little difference because you're not really allowed to get delicious smoothies by your own accord anyway. Jamba Juice is, generally, the bane of all staff members in that it manifests itself in unrelenting nagging from students. Sometimes, a teacher will take their class there for a special treat. Sometimes.
Sunken Gardens
Sunken Gardens is a large plot of grass below/next to Regent's Terrace. Some activities are held there on weekdays. Water Day is also held there every first Sunday, as well as parts of Non-Mandatory Fun. In 2008, the Sunken Gardens are closed for construction. Rumor has it that they were actually sinking.
Regent's Terrace
This is the area where RAs/TAs bring their students to meet up with their TAs/RAs before and after class. Ultimate Frisbee is commonly played here. The activity Trench is also held on a field here. This is where many CTYers hang out after lunch as well. It is home to the poking tree and the lion statue.
The Mall
The Mall is a series of fields extending from Regent's Terrace in the opposite direction of the Sunken Gardens. It is home to the poet-tree (AKA The Totalitarian Theocracy of Daneistan). It is normally off limits.
