History
The Haverford site is located at Haverford College in Haverford, PA. It opened in 2013, and serves between 230 and 250 students. After the Moravian Site closed in Bethlehem, PA, the younger students were integrated into Easton. It seems many of the older students who went to Bethlehem or Easton wound up at Haverford. Many of the Haverford staff also came from the Easton site. The campus is also an arboretum, and as such it has a ridiculous amount of trees. (DON'T TOUCH THE TREES!)
Due to its tender age, it is lacking in traditions, with the exception of American Pie, Forever Young, and Stairway to Heaven being played at every dance. As a new site, there are a few more restrictions or stricter regulations associated with the first year, including earlier lights out (10:30pm) on the final night and no going off campus. Because the site is relatively new, most of the students in attendance are first or second years, and most are 12-14.
The college's mascot is a squirrel, so all the trash cans have squirrels on them.
All alumni of CTY Haverford are welcome to join the Facebook group CTY Haverford, which will help new CTYers with pre-CTY preparation and post CTY depression.
Dorms
Barclay Hall
The oldest dorms on campus. Houses males. During first session, 3 of the 4 floors are used. During second session, only two floors are used, with 2 RAs per floor. Some of the rooms are suite-style and some are singles. There are 3 bathrooms per floor. There is no elevator and a laundry room in the basement. It was rumored that the upper floors are haunted.
This is the only dorm with vending machines. The soda always runs out and the only things left in the snack one are peanut-based stuff. A great sense of community.
Jones Hall
The older dorms for females. All four floors are used, both sessions. The floors consist of four separate suites, each with four rooms and one lounge. There is one RA per floor and one bathroom. There's also one awful, smelly dumbwaiter, and a laundry room of questionable effectiveness in the basement.
Each room is equipped with one crappy air conditioner with no visible temperature control. It has an approximate 12.5% chance of leaking, creating a huge puddle on the carpet and making the entire suite smell like pond water for the rest of the session. The air conditioner also sounds like a vacuum, so it's a little hard to sleep peacefully for the first few nights.
The window blinds will randomly go up in the middle of the night. Do not pull down your window blind all the way, because it will get stuck and likely rip off of the window. The screens of windows are also disgusting. Sleepovers are allowed in the common rooms of each suite.
Kim Hall
Brand new dorm. For males and females first session, but males only second session. All rooms are singles, and sleepovers are not allowed because of potential fire code violations. There are four bathrooms on each floor and two laundry rooms. The laundry costs $1.25 (1.50 for superwash) to wash and $1.00 to dry. There are also two lounges and a study area each with big flat screen TVs that are not allowed to be used. For some reason, there are no indoor stairs leading up to the second floor.
There are 3 RA halls per floor. There are also nooks at each end of the hall for quiet relaxation. There's a small courtyard in the middle where you can hang out. There is also a millipede problem. Do NOT open the side door, the fire alarm WILL go off. Microwaves are available.
Tritton Hall
Brand new dorm for males and females first session, but only females second session. Exactly the same layout as Kim. Everyone has their own room, but half the rooms are freezing and half are boiling hot because of an automatic temperature adjuster installed in the dorm. There are two showers in each of the four bathrooms, which are cleaned every day. Two laundry rooms as well. Each room's window has a sign that says "Do not open window" because it will mess up the air conditioning.
Other Buildings
Stokes
Building where a handful of classes are held. More notable is the auditorium where movies are played during dances or movie night. Occasionally used by RAs for karaoke. The health office is also located here.
KINSC
Composed of several different buildings, KINSC is the main building for classrooms.
Dining Hall
Self explanatory. CTY is to the left, other camps go to the right. You will usually get kicked out of the lobby if no RAs are there.
The Coop
The source of somewhat more edible food on campus. Generally only accessible to CTYers on weekends. Particularly notable is the F'real milkshake machine.
Whitehead Bookstore
A typical college bookstore with food and college apparel. You can only visit on weekends.
Gardener Gym
Building with basketball courts where activities and some weekend events take place, such as Mystery Night, Color Wars, etc.
Founders Hall
The building with the ballroom that was location of the dances. Some spaces in it were also used by the Krinsky camps, and Krinsky campers would frequently try to sneak in to dances or take pictures of the dance. The bathroom is downstairs in a very shady place. Oldest building on campus. The porch also looks like it will break at any moment so don't stand on the wood parts.
Sharpless
A building where some classes are held. It has three floors and a few structures combined together. It sits on the south side (relative to the front of Founders) of the quad facing Founders. The main building is filled with biology labs and psychology professors. The front door was always locked for the late session, so the side entrance in the rotunda had to be used. There is also a lecture hall but it is more run-down than Stokes, so many choose not to use it if they can help it. The lounge has different countries' flags, CTYers are allowed to sit there during indoor breaks if no one was already occupying the space. The classrooms are a good size and have wooden desks, ones for lefties and ones for righties.
Open Areas
Barclay Field
Large field adjacent to the duck pond and Barclay Hall where various activities take place.
Founder's Green
Large field with paths directly in front of Founder's. This is where many outdoor activities take place, as well as free time at night or after meals. Also used for the Passionfruit.
Notable Occurrences
- 13.1:
- Students from another camp kept trying to crash CTY dances before they were yelled at by the RAs
- Kim Hall became a humid swamp after people left their windows open overnight
- A giant branch almost fell on some campers until RA Jeeves superman'd their lives
- Some girl had her bed taken apart in Jones
- The girls of Tritton Hall pranked the guys downstairs by going into their lounges and screaming, which caused retaliation by the boys. Before the last dance, they tied all the door knobs together, trashed the lounges, moved the girls' name tags from their doors, and wrote on their dry-erase boards. This caused trouble, however, because only the SRAs knew about the pranks, and not the head administrators of the site. The RAs had to clean up the girls' floor, leaving no trace but the dry erase boards.
- 13.2:
- A soccer ball was kicked and hit a sprinkler in Barclay Hall during the last week, causing the entire building to flood. The fire alarm went off more than twenty times throughout the night and people were forced to sleep in Founder's. Easily the most notable occurrence this year.
- Unlike first session, there was no Casino night because people kept stealing money during first session's Casino Night. It was replaced with Quiz Bowl.
- Ice cream in the dining hall was taken away the third week
- The game "The Slender Man" was played at night in the dorms, leaving some campers too scared to go to sleep (most notably Max, because RA Charles would whisper "the slender man is coming for YOU" and scratch at his door at night to scare him)
- By the second weekend most of the camp (including staff members) were playing Pokemon through emulators
- After Mystery night, Jones 2 had a giant after party consisting of cleaning tables and floors with mashmellows stuck to them, playing and singing to "Skyfall" on the piano, dancing and singing to high school musical with guy know for hat on his back.
- Jones hall fire alarm was triggered from the outside at 3:30am (many blamed krinsky camps but that is not verified) at the end of the second week.
- Last night of camp a bunch of guys from Barclay were caught eating RA food. The RAs on the floor got really mad and threatened to send us home early if we left our rooms again. By morning a couple of people had peed in coke bottles because they were too afraid to leave their rooms and use the bathroom
- Kids AND Staff from Kim 1 and 2 would dance and grind on the windows that look into the courtyard where people from different floors can see each other. The purpose was to "win" by doing the most outrageous things (like showing off luggage, food, electronics, a short strip tease from RA sonny)
- Campers from krinsky camp were taking pictures and trying to get into the last CTY dance from above the dance floor until ras nick, charles, and sonny went up and yelled at them and their counselors.
- The pokemon theme song became a part of the dance canon
- 14.1:
- Many sleepovers were held in Tritton but were all caught by Josephine and banned. However, they still kept occurring.
- Volleyball circles happened at every break using Emma's volleyball.
- There was a guy in a wheelchair that pretty much ran over everyone's foot.
- A huge sleepover happened at Tritton on the last day.
- Volleyballs and Frisbees were hidden under a giant tree on the quad to prevent having to carry them everywhere.
- An RA once made a girl cry during an icebreaker scream game where the RA tried to get her to scream.
- Nevermore circles occurred all 3 dances
- Crafting the Essay once spent the entire class walking around outside, visiting buildings, and making quaking noises to the ducks in the duck pond.
- A male camper was arm wrestling with a girl when the girl accidentally let go and he hit himself in the face with his fist. An RA saw this and locked him in the nurse's office for 6 hours, convinced he had a concussion.
- A dog once stole a volleyball away when it accidentally rolled on the street.
- The girl dorms were loaded with food but none of it was discovered until the last day.
- Everyone watched the world cup together on the second Sunday.
- A girl once ran screaming out of a bathroom near the computer lab because it was a really dark, sketchy bathroom that constantly had a beeping noise, and no one ever used that bathroom again.
- A student accidentally broke a branch off a tree and was forced to bow down and apologize to it.
- A girl once opened a window in Tritton and made the entire dorm freezing cold because of an automated temperature sensor installed that affects the air conditioning.
- 14.2:
- The first spirit week was hosted by a group of nevermore girls.
- The nevermore circle actually occurred all 3 dances.
- A girl from Jones set off the fire alarm at 10:15 when she made Easy Mac but forgot to add water.
- 2 campers were caught sneaking off campus after lights out the day before the last dance, and were kept in the office; they couldn't attend the last day of class, or the dances. When caught, one said that he was a "jogger". Both boys were caught by campus security after standing under the only working streetlight in the quad.
- After the campers were discovered out of their dorms, a dorm sweep was held at 1:30 AM across the whole campus, effectively waking up and pissing everyone off.
- An emergency group therapy session occurred in Intro to Philosophy following the traumatic viewing of several euthanasia videos; class was essentially canceled for the rest of the day. The counselor was called in and the class spent 3 hours in tears. Nevertheless, Bio-Ethics watched the same videos the following day.
- Several large tree branches were broken, and effectively hidden in the bushes.
- The first 2 dances used broken/ blown-out speakers so it was hard to hear.
- You couldn't leave class to use the bathroom by yourself, you had to be escorted by your T.A. (Even if the bathroom was 2 doors down!)
- Intro to Logic and Philosophy had a debate. Specifically, if the person that enters a deatomimizer teleportation device the same person as the person reatomimized on the other side. Bioethics observed and questioned both sides. Each side got a chance to talk at the podium and rebut the others arguement. Index cards were flying with people's ideas as each group of representatives went up. Logic drew pretty pictures during the whole thing. No winner was decided at the end while each side felt that they won. Both sides had radically different definitions for a Cartesian ego which lead to a lot of facepalming during and after the debate by students and teachers alike.
- 15.2:
- During an ultimate frisbee game with open endzones, in an attempt to make a good catch, a student dived for the frisbee and instead broke his arm. The next hour involved sitting in the grass waiting for the ambulance to come.
(It was hot)
- Will was an RA in one of the boys dorms, and his new group managed to quickly turn their hall into a cult. This included:
- Chanting "Will" at random times
- Naming themselves Will 1, Will 2, etc.
- Making custom T-Shirts that say Will on the front and their Will number on the back.
2016 Session 2
- During Casino Night almost every single RA group cheated.
- Callum's RA group, based in Kim, formed a popular group called the "Hype Squad".
- The Hype Squad includes: Hype boss: Callum; Hype leader: Josh; deputy: Henry; Other members include: Keven, Jonah, Justin, Alex, Shea, Nathan, Calix, Melvin, Nova, Grant, Meris, Danielle, etc.

Tips/Advice
- NEVER swing your lanyard or nick will hunt you down
- NEVER touch the trees or joke about touching or climbing the trees or else the RA's will get really mad. During session 2, one student was wrongfully accused of poking a hole in a tree with a pencil and a whole group of RA's seriously got crazily mad. One kid once kicked a tree and the RA's made him apologize to the tree, bow and air hug it.
- In session 15.1 and 15.2, if you hit a tree in any fashion (frisbee, soccerball, etc.) you must drop everything and apologize to the tree, and often hug it as well.
- Don't stand next to an RA with a whistle when it's time to go to class or you will go deaf
- Also always remember your lanyard. If you live in Jones or Barclay you will lock yourself out of your room. If you live in Kim or Tritton the dining hall is a hike so if you forget your lanyard no one will be happy. (It's really not that far, it's okay).
- Never kick a soccer ball or throw a Frisbee inside unless you want to lose all your sleep.
- Don't sign up for ghostly encounters. just don't.
- Try not to be in the shower when the fire alarm goes off
- Don't sit on the grass too often... there are hundreds of bugs EVERYWHERE
- During Jones sleepovers, pushing the couches together, it makes a REALLY comfortable bed.
- BRING BUG SPRAY! The gnats eat people alive.
- Never injure yourself, or if you do, then pretend it doesn't hurt because the RA's will lock you in the nurse's office for 5 hours.
- Food
- Bring plenty of snacks and money to buy snacks because the food has a reputation of being disgusting and literally sickening
- The spinach and carrots are heavenly when fresh. But if they aren't fresh the carrots are soft and hard at the same time. Not a combination you want.
- Like most sites, peanut based foods are rare in the dining hall
- Dining hall is composed of six main food areas (main dishes, pizza/nacho/taco/etc bar, salad/sandwich bar, desserts, and ice cream/cereal nook)
- Clean up all tables or ice cream will be taken away
- Cut open your chicken or meat before you bite it because most times it will be extremely undercooked
- If you go to The Coop and try to get a F'real, the milkshake will melt if you leave it out of the freezer for too long and it will jam the machine.
- Don't bring your food outside of the cafeteria, or else squirrels will attack you...
- The Coop wasn't open 14.2
- At 15.2 Chipwiches (ice cream sandwich using chocolate chip cookies), mysteriously vanished one day, to the great disappointment to many.
- Dorms
- If you live in Kim or Tritton, don't open your windows. The building has some sort of green design and uses temperature and humidity sensors to monitor and control the internal temperature. If the windows are open, it will make the computer running the air conditioning freak out and do weird things, like raise the temperature of the building by 10 or 15 degrees.
- Jones is the worst forever. Jones girls, however, are bonded for life because of their shared Jones experience.
- Bring febreeze cuz the bathrooms will smell
- Don't talk to strangers, especially kids at the other camps

2014 2nd Session Staff
- Kim RA's:
- Gustavo He studies Biology at The university of Mexico. This was his second session and first year being an RA at CTY. He is very kind and caring. Despite his lack of a full formal education of English his English is very good just a medium accent of mexican lingo. He took pictures at all the dances and was on every dance committee. He follows and inforces most rules but isn't strict. He refuses to yell. And taught the bachata dance class.
- Conrad: he sounds like Benedict Cumberbatch.
- Matt:Plays League
- Derek: Almost has a PhD in philosophy. He has a code that "if he doesn't see you do it go ahead and try". He never stopped anyone from attempting to break small rules. His hall was known for being crazy and doing stupid stuff like move furniture around and have massive sleepovers. His hall meetings were always informal and open. Not the most responsible and known to be in his room with the door locked. It was said by people on his hall that one time he was seen buying condoms at the bookstore. We don't know if that is true though. He occasionally got prank called by boys in his hall. COOLEST RA on the campus!
