Egyptian Ratscrew, or ERS, is a fairly violent card game played all over the world. Its popularity was well established at CTY by 1985 -- when Ratscrew and Spit were the two dominant card games played by students. What has always made Ratscrew different from other card games played at CTY is the fact that it is usually learned at CTY, as opposed to being learned at home.

The nickname ERS is a common misconception, but is solid enough to stand. The actual name of the game is Egyptian Rat's Crew, commonly slurred together into Egyptian Rat Screw. Thus the abbreviation SHOULD be ERC, but ERS is used by all.
