I am Fuzz.

I went to baby CTY in Thousand Oaks in 05.2 for Inductive and Deductive Reasoning, where I inadvertently formed a cult that called themselves the "Fuzzists".

From 2006-2009 (all session 1), I went to the Los Angeles site, taking GAME, CODE, MIND, and EENG, in that order. Although eligible for a fifth year, I elected not to attend, for reasons outlined here. I think I have a pretty unique view on CTY, which is discussed in that link and will probably surface in the rest of this page.

Over the years, I became more and more interested in the tradition and culture of CTY. In 2006, I was in a hall with Brandon Chang, who also went on to become a traditionalist. However, one of the kids in our hall that year brought a Gameboy Advance with Donkey Kong Country 3 on it, leading to a lack of participation in various CTY activities on my part. That taught me the importance of isolating CTY from the outside world for maximum enjoyment. However, I did learn how to solve a Rubik's Cube from Chris Hahn, so it wasn't a complete loss.

The next year, I was in a hall with the legendary Petr Sharetskiy, rogue traditionalist and hackey-sacker extraordinaire. Learning to hackey sack turned out to be a skill that greatly affected the rest of my years at CTY and all the time in between.

By 08.1, hackey sack had its own subculture at CTY, the main players being Petr, Alex Blum, Max Stivers, and me. This was Petr's nevermore year. Also, that year, I was in a class with Emma (Purplatypus) and Lizzy, exposing me to the core of CTY traditionalism.

In 09.1, Alex, Max, and I led the hackey sack movement and it saw a large amount of spreading during that time. Those who joined the group included John Wise, Alex Khan (AKA Pink Shirt), and Isaac Siegmund-Broka, as well as a multitude of other people who were not experts, but still gave an honest attempt at it. To show the growth of hackey-sacking as an activity during those three weeks: The first daily of the session had a Hackey Sack option. About 5 of us joined up of that. The last weekly had a hackey sack option. It attracted close to 20 people. I ascribe this to our group's uncanny wit and charm. I can only hope that it will continue to grow, engulfing all of LOS, and eventually the world!

Other than that, I'm a musician. I started piano at age 4 1/2 and could read both hands by the end of my first lesson. I'm somewhat lazy in practicing, but am very advanced in theory and ear training, so much so that I've managed to teach myself the guitar, ukulele, and a little bit of sitar and violin (I only had a few hours available to me for those two). I played in the CTY talent show in 2005, 2006, 2008, and 2009, piano for the first three years, and ukulele for the last one in a band with some ridiculous name I don't remember.

I don't love CTY, I CTY CTY.
