The Easton site is part of the CAA program, like Bristol.

History

The first people came to the Easton site at Lafayette College in 2003, after the Frederick, Maryland site said JHU could not come back, as they were renovating all the dorms to accommodate male students. Many students and faculty came to this site from Frederick, and were termed "Hood rats", a reference to the Frederick site being housed at Hood College. Since then, the Easton site has become one of the most tradition-heavy of the CAA sites.

Places

Buildings

  • Dorms:
    • Easton Hall - Older, crummier, buggier, and hotter girls' dorm. The layout of each floor is pretty basic. Formatted in a long rectangular hallway, there are rooms lining both sides of the walls. Apparently, the rooms at the end of the halls are bigger than the rest. Bathrooms are positioned in the middle of the hall, on the same wall as the entrance and pretty much across the hall from the lounge. Hall meetings are held in the lounge where there is usually a small TV, three to four single person couches, and a small coffee table. Floors are not carpeted both in the rooms and outside. Bulletins were at both ends of the hallway. Easton consists of three floors, the layout are the same on all three. There were air conditioners in each room, but the hallways are still hot most of the time and if left on for a long time, the rooms can get really cold. Laundry machines are located in the basement, as well as a larger lounge that students aren't allowed to be in. Laundry is free :).
    • Keefe Hall - Newer and nicer of the two girls' dorms. The layout of each floor is set in two rectangle, with a bridge like hallway to separate each hall in between. The elevator is on the right, but students are not permitted to use it without special permission (ex: injuries). Each hall has a large lounge, where hall meetings were held, four bathrooms, and one RA room (for obvious reasons). In the lounge, a TV, a mini-kitchen, a few tables, and multiple couches are arranged, facing the bridge. Students are not permitted to use the kitchen besides the sink and microwaves are sometimes disabled. Rooms and hallways are spacious and carpeted and the entire building has central air conditioning. An emergency stairwell is located in the center of a square layout of the rooms. Two bathrooms can be found on opposite sides of the stairwell, facing rooms, making a short trip to the bathroom without waking anyone up a bit difficult. Two of the bathrooms have two sinks, a stall, and a shower in it. The other two are handicapped bathrooms, and as such have only one sink and no stall (there was still a toilet). Laundry machines are located in the basement, where nobody lives, so students are not allowed to hang out down there. Vending machines can also be found on that floor. Laundry is free :)
    • South College - South College is not only the boys dorm but houses administration offices, including the nurse. On the first floor the East Wing had the main office, the Site Directors's office, the nurses office, and the Deans' offices. On the west wing of South, also called Jesser Hall (although everyone ignores it), has the SRA dorms. CTY students were not allowed to even walk through the hall, even to go to the nurse in 12.1 and 12.2. On the three floors above it had four RA groups per floor. Each floor had two lounges and kitchens on either side of the building. As per new rules, 12.1 and 12.22 were not allowed to use the TVs. The fourth floor, unlike the other ones was newly tiled 1 week before 12.1 began. It is expected that the other floors will be completely floored in time for 13.1.
    • Watson Hall - Use of the hall began in 13.1 due to the addition of the YS. During 13.2, it was used for the older girls' dorms although many of them complained about the horrible state of the bathrooms (mold, hairballs, etc.). Apparently the janitor staff was lacking. It is STRONGLY recommended to bring your own sheets and do your laundry on time.
    • McKeen Hall - Due to YS students being moved to South College, and OS Girls remaining in Watson Hall, the male OS CAAmpers were moved to McKeen in 14.1 and 14.2. McKeen was known for horrible air conditioning in the basement (2-3 students were sick per week down there), no reception, and games of Eunice in the basement. The basement housed all of the laundry machines (6 washers and 5 dryers, all free), which could be heard all the way from the 2nd floor on some nights. The Hall overlooked the college town, on the edge of the campus. One of the advantages was that it was literally 20 feet from the Farinon dining hall, which also housed the dance, so tired feet didn't have to walk too far to rest after each dance.
  • Buildings where various classes are held:
    • Acopian Engineering Center - Usually Engineering courses, as well as math courses
    • Hugel Science Center - Usually Science Courses, as well as engineering courses
    • Kirby Hall of Civil Rights - Usually Humanities courses
    • Pardee Hall - Computer Labs, as well as other random classes, like English. Known for crazy fire alarm issues.
  • Buildings where various activities are held:
    • Farinon College Center - Contains the cafeteria, dance/activities room, book store, and movie theater. This building has three floors and the top contains the dining hall and the room in which dances are held. The middle floor (ground floor) is where students are allowed to stay after meals if it happens to be raining. ONLY if it's raining, otherwise students are to stay on the Farinon Quad. In the basement is the book store and where movies are shown during dances.
    • Marquis Hall - Temporary Dining hall in 08.1 and 2, as the Farinon dining hall was being renovated. Used again in 12.1 and 2 because of construction at Farinon (the quad and the building). dances were still held in the Marlo Room.
    • Colton Chapel - Location of All-site meetings, Swashbuckler, and Talent Show.
    • Williams Center For The Arts - Location of Swashbuckler in 08.1.
    • Kirby Sports Center- Contains the pool and gyms.

Quads

  • Main Quad (usually known as Farinon Quad): The largest quad on the Campus. It is located between the Farinon College Center and the Library. Many outdoor sports activities, such as soccer, wiffle ball, and Ultimate Frisbee are played on the quad. The Quad and the steps in front of Farinon are also the main hang out place after meals are finished. In 08.1 and 2, the main quad was not used as much as it had been in the past as the Dining Hall in Farinon was being renovated.
  • Easton Quad: The smaller quad located outside of Easton Hall. Quad time takes place here every night. Easton Quad was the hang out place after meals in O8.1 and 2 as Marquis Hall, the dining hall for these sessions, was nearby. The tree at the center of Easton Quad was and continues to be a popular makeout spot. For 12.1 and 12.2 Easton quad was used as the main quad due to construction by the Main Quad.
  • Anderson Courtyard (known as Watson Quad): The quad located in from of Watson hall. Quad time was moved here in 13.1 due to the overwhelming amount of people making out under the tree in the center of Easton quad.

Traditions

  • Dress Up days:
    • Goth Monday
    • Prep Tuesday
    • Cross-dress Wednesday Cross dress day is no longer allowed at CTY apparently.
    • There was also a Twin Thursday, which was less common, but was brought back during 13.2. Many people during 07.2 and 08.2 tried to create a Pajama Day Thursday, which was also less common. The traditions began in 05.2 by students in the Psychology A course, most notably Priya Mehta, JT Shepard-Blankenheim, and Megan Dent. However, in 09.2, the Administration replaced the days with Backwards Monday, Twin Tuesday, and T-Shirt signing Wednesday, in attempt to start new traditions.
    • Dress-up days in 12.2 included Moon Monday, Twin Tuesday, Wacky Wednesday, and T-Shirt signing Thursday. Each received VERY minimal participation. (very minimal is putting it lightly... i saw 4 girls for moon monday)
    • The ban on the original dress-up days was also enforced in 10.2, but not as strictly (excepting cross-dress day).
    • Dress-up days in 14.2 were: Merchandise Monday (wear all Lafayette merchandise), Twin Tuesday, Wacky Wednesday (turned into cross-dress day), and T-Shirt Thursday (for signing T-shirts).
    • Half-Casual Friday - The RAs would wear casual top/dressy bottoms or vice versa on Fridays... for no particular reason. (One of the RA's said it was in honor of RA Tom, who was often seen wearing a really nice pair of pants and a raggedy old shirt/wifebeater.)
NOTE: dress up days are held on the last week with the exception of Wacky-Dress Friday which is help on the second Friday.
  • Passionfruit, which has now become an established tradition. This was started in '06. Before this there had been a nevermore party after the last dance, but was determined to "exclude" other CAAmpers. Passionfruit starts early in the morning of the last day and allows all CAAmpers. During the Passionfruit, CAAmpers sit in a large circle on the quad and drink juice. Some make speeches, some make toasts. This was typically held at 5am (sunrise), however in 10.1 it was changed to 6am. In 12.1 and 12.2 it was held at 5:30am.
  • American Pie, with chanting, circles with kicking of feet at the beginning and end. [beware; injuries have occurred during this song.]
  • Weekend trips:
    • WaWa (convenience store) Get the smoothies!
    • The Purple Cow (awesome ice cream parlor) Banned 12.1 and 12.2
    • The Cosmic Cup, (the best coffee and bagel shop in the world) Banned 12.1 and 12.2
      • Trips to the Cosmic Cup were started by Psych A kids during 06.2 after the suggestion by their TA and Instructor. During 09.2 trips to downtown Easton were discouraged by the Administration because of the time spent off campus. Trips to the Purple Cow were not made, Engineering however did make it to the Crayola Factory.
    • The Crayola factory
  • CAAsino Night (first Saturday)
  • Swashbuckler (Color Wars)(first Sunday) (Replaced by Quadbuckler in 11.2 because of boredom in 11.1) Not held in 12.1- Returning RAs claim to have completely forgotten to plan it.<RA's (12.2) claimed 12.1 was not interested> Returned in 12.2!
  • Olympics (known as "teambuilding" in 09.2) (second Saturday; first Saturday in 12.1)
  • Flag Football Tournament- Followed the Olympics on the Second Saturday. Was Run by RA and SRA LJ and RA Keith Bloom, both of whom played on the Lafayette College football team. If it was available, the event would be held on the Lafayette College's Artificial Turf Football Stadium. After LJ left after 07.2, the event was changed to an Ultimate Frisbee Tournament. By 08 this tradition ceased to exist for whatever reason.
  • Talent Show (second Saturday)
    • The Nevermore Song, which is sung every year since '06 to end the Talent Show.
      • in 12.2 "synergy" was changed to "believe you me" after the 11.2 site director said it at every speach
  • Water Carnival (which was changed to Medieval Carnival in 09.2)(second Sunday; not held in 12.1. Held "survivor teambuidling" instead).
  • Zombie Apocalympics held second Saturday in 12.2 followed by Disney Day on Sunday.
  • Blackouts
    • The electrical system at Lafayette College/ Easton goes out very easily, usually by the first lightning strike of a storm. The most famous blackout in CAA Easton history was in 2006, in which storms produced life-threatening hail, a three-day black out, and brown outs at Lafayette, in addition to major flooding in lower Easton.
    • There was a blackout Prior to the the Last Dance 08.1. Thanks to the positive song and the CTY Gods, the afternoon class session that was supposed to take place before the dance was canceled, but the power came on just in time for the dance.

Activities

There are various activities offered throughout the session.

  • Single period activities:
    • Braveheart - Offered about twice during the first session of 2008, what is done in the activity is secret. Offered again in 12.1 and 12.2
    • Cloud Watching - Offered a good deal of time. Students sit on Farinon quad and oftentimes just play cards…no real "cloud watching" occurs. Activities like "Chillaxing," and "The Art of Chilling" are the same as Cloud watching. RA Tom yelled at people in 12.1 for not watching clouds!!
    • Mystery Activity - Offered once, was canceled due to lack of interest.
    • Balloon Stomping - Offered around two times. Participants tie balloons to each of their feet and must pop the balloons of others while keeping their own alive. It was canceled the first time due to bad weather.
    • Water Balloon Filling - This was offered the week before Water Day. This is often the day they have poor selections for one period activities.
    • Love (Note) Making - Offered by RA's Juliette and Tatianna 04.2-05.2. The period was called Love Note Making, but became known as Love Making. Unfortunatly, this activity died after Juliette left. Brought back by student demand in 13.2 !
    • Love Letters - Offered around half way through the session after people make a lot of friends. You can write letters to your friends and have them delivered to their RA's. During 09.2 the activity was changed to be called "CTY-Grams".
    • Salsa Dancing - Offered twice during 08.1. During 1 period there were 12 girls and 1 guy.
    • Paranoia Squad- Run on the first Friday of 10.2 by Brandon, Owen, and Spencer. It involved covering Brandon with shaving cream(at which point he accidentally dropped the F-bomb) and screaming "EVERYTHING IS OUT TO GET YOU ALL THE TIME!!!!!". Other things were also coated in shaving cream and beaten with sticks. continued to be offered in 11.2 and 12.2
    • Zumba- Dance and exercise. AT THE SAME TIME! big interest among 12.2 boys due to the RA running the activity
    • SRA Safari- run on the last day of activities by Spencer Knoll. the objective was to hunt down the ”Escaped” SRAs and place a tracking device on them (Basketball stickers). It wasn't easy because they kept running from us.
    • Canadian Braveheart- Run by Spencer in 12.2, Students invaded other activities screaming "What do we want? FREEDOM! When do we want it? WHENEVER IS CONVENIENT FOR YOU!"
    • Quiet Reading- A favorite in 12.2 because students had the option to read, listen to music, or sleep.
    • Whose Line Is It Anyway?- A hilarious activity run by Spencer and Steve in 12.2 with various improv games including many uses of "If You Know What I Mean" and conversations regarding eating Steve
    • Dance Decorations- Offered twice or so during 12.2 to help RAs out with weekend duties.
    • How to Pick Up Chicks - John's Hall in 13.1 were particularly uncommunicative at the first dance, so John took it upon himself to inform the male population how to pick up chicks. Two things went wrong: first was that 98% of the people who signed up were female. The second was that John was not prepared for this, so it became How To Pick Up Chickens.
    • Male Fashion Advice - Basically Putting down male fashion. Most participants were female.
    • Girl Talk - Self Explanatory, offered during 14.1, with mostly male participants
    • Meh - Similar to Braveheart, offered during 14.1
    • How to write a Manifesto, offered during 14.1
    • Taylor Swift Appreciation, offered during 14.1. Participants analyzed her music videos.
  • Double period activities:
    • Basketball - Offered everyday. In 12.1 it was rotated with indoor soccer.
    • Dodgeball - Offered throughout most of the session, but was sometimes replaced by volleyball.
    • Swimming - Offered everyday. It is done in the indoor pool in the Sports Center.
    • Volleyball - Occasionally replaced dodgeball, but was less common than dodgeball.
    • Tennis - Offered Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of the second week of session one 2008. Courts are outdoors. Good idea to bring your own tennis balls.
    • Wiffle Ball/Kickball - Occasionally offered. Was played on the main quad. (Single Activity Period and Both Activity Periods)
    • Ultimate Frisbee - Offered twice during 08.1.
    • Disney Channel Appreciation - Offered once. No, it is not merely watching movies. They ask questions and do games.
    • Ballroom Dancing - This was a fun activity offered twice.
    • Swing dancing-offered twice, but only actually run once. Amazingly fun, and there was swing music played at the dance following the activity(semi-formal, next day). Run by Raughley and Jen, 09.2. Revived by Raughley in10.2 and was run twice.
    • Squirrel Naming - Offered near the end of 08.1 by Owen and Eric. In the beginning it was a chilaxing activity since none of the usual squirrels could be found. However after finding chasing one outside O'Keefe, half the group became inspired. 7 squirrels were named.
    • Awkward Invasion - Using your skills learned from "How To Be Awkward", you would go to other activities and make people feel awkward.
  • Unknown/Other:
    • Morning 'Fun' Run - Offered most mornings. Students would be picked up around 6 a.m. and would be taken to the track. Occasionally a roundabout way of getting to the track would be taken. 08.1 - mostly girls would go. Ceased to exist during 09 due to lazy RAs, but instead had "running" as an activity during the activity periods. Were present in 12.2.
    • Releasing Your Inner Beast - Offered by Owen and Eric at the end of 08.1, also run by Owen and Millie 10.2. The activity evolved acting like a beast
    • Don't Sign Up for This Activity - Run by Steve in 07.2, The activity was horrible, but those who had signed up had been warned...Run again by Steve and Spencer in 12.1 and 12.2. Kids rebelled and threw things at them.
    • Stepping; Sorority Style - Run by Health Assistant Ify in 07.2, was a stepping activity which was a practice session for a performance in the talent show.
    • Squirrel Stalking/Safari- Possibly the best activity ever. Run by Alex and Stuart in 09.2. CAAmpers and the RAs ran after squirrels to see how close they could get and screamed "Meh" at them to make them come closer. Also run by Brandon 10.2. Run by Tom in 12.1.
    • Boon or Bane- You! Space Whales, Boon or Bane?
    • PandaFest - one hall. one cereal box. one mission.
    • How To Be Awkward - Self explanitory. Just keep everything CTYA.

Noteable Occurances

  • 06.2:
    • During the Olympics, nevermores Kaitlyn Taylor and JT Shepard-Blankenheim went to the health office for pie-throwing related injuries. Health staff drove the two back to the Farinon Quad, inadvertently creating a campus scandal. When the two left the college van near the quad, rumors spread that Kaitlyn and JT left campus to go to Wawa and were caught. Administration overreacted and threatened to revoke certificates of participation before they 'officially' knew what had happened. After a personal meeting with administration two days later, and phone calls home, JT was let back on campus. No disciplinary action was brought against Kaitlyn or JT.
  • 08.1:
    • After Swashbuckler, you would still find random groups of people yelling (insert color name here) Squad, this was first started by Valerie's (Val's) hall, who were on the Black team.
    • Valerie's (Val's) and several male halls had their own unofficial cross dressing day on the second Wednesday of the first session.
  • 08.2:
    • Excessive planning by Tom's hall to earn the most money during CAAsino Night. They did not succeed, but did succeed in roping a lot of the girls hall's into helping them. The total was quite a lot.
    • During dances groups of people (mainly guys) would encircle a dancing couple for a few minutes and then move onto another couple. This was amusing to some, and annoying to others.
    • The fire alarms had false alarms several times in Keefe Hall, including once in the middle of the night. Each time a fire truck had to come. The issue was blamed on humidity. The same occurrence happened in 06.2 with the fire truck as well, but the girls blamed it on the excessive amount of perfume used by some girls on the Fourth Floor.
    • During the second dance, two very notable CAAmpers, Haydn Dufrene and Brian Herrera were dancing to Numa Numa and were pulled out for "dancing inappropriatly." They were taken out of the dance room and made to sit for the rest of the night. CAAmpers including, Nadya Spice, Lara Hakki, Andrea Fields, Giulia Picascia, Danielle Canady, Ash Leigh, Liz Bisaha, Keith Lemaster, Steph Dunn, Keithlyn Parkman, Gloria DiMino, Andrew Hartford, and Octavio Dmitri Roscioli, when Swing, Swing started to play, began singing, and essentially brought the dance to where Haydn and Brian were sitting in isolation. The Administration was so outraged that the group was told that if the students did not return to the Dance room, the music would be turned off and everyone would return to the dorms and there would be no sleepovers. The students did return to the dance room, only to continue the protest when American Pie came on. The students sat in the center of the circle in the beginning and the end of the song. The students created such a disturbance that they were told that there would be no protests during the next dance.
  • 09.2:
    • The traditional dress-up days (Goth Monday, Prep Tuesday, and Cross-Dress Wednesday) were replaced because they were apparently "offensive". They were replaced by a Backwards Monday, in which students wear their close inside-out and backwards, a Twin Tuesday, and a CTY shirt-signing Wednesday, where they hand out the CTY shirts and people got to sign each other's shirts. However, many of the returning students still dressed up for these days, mostly Goth Monday though. As the days went on, less students dressed up for the original traditional days.
    • The canon was messed up during the first dance, in which "Swing, Swing" was forgotten. The issue was fixed for the later dances but the immediate effect was crippling.
    • John Lerman had an epic rap song for 10 minutes called THE BEST. He is the reason there is a 5 minute limit at the talent show.
  • 10.1:
    • At the talent show Philip and his Homies sang possibly the best ever rendition of Rihanna's "Umbrella". Shout out to Philip Chin, Joo Kim, Francisco Bresciani, Aamir Rahim, Bryshaun Gocoul, and Julio Figueroa.
    • Members of the class Principles of Engineering Design A created a successful Rube Goldberg Device with about 40 different steps (the goal was to pour mulitple cups of water). [[1]]
    • During the 2nd and 3rd dances a group of CAAmpers created an awkward circle and fondly captured couples during slow dances, trapping them inside until the CAAmpers saw fit to let them out and move on to another couple.
    • Sleepovers were banned and then reinstated on the night of the last dance thanks to many protests from CAAmpers and RAs alike.
    • The passionfruit ritual was destroyed by the mistaken RAs buying berry punch instead of passionfruit juice as expected by all nevermores present.
  • 10.2:
    • The order of the canon was changed. "Swing Swing" is now played before "All My Life." ***changed back to original "all my life" then "swing swing"
    • In the upstairs Farinon Bathroom, "CTY N'Mores '10" was written in lipstick on the mirrors.
    • Medieval Carnival was held indoors instead of outdoors, which meant there were no water events. It was held inside Farinon.
  • 11.1:
    • There was a Harry Potter weekend event in honor of the final Harry Potter movie being released. It included a wand fight between two R.As and pie throwing. Games of Quidditch were also played. Overall, an extremely fun event.
  • 11.2:
    • There was an activity titled Curb Mop RA Pie Toss, but was actually a "suprise" bootcamp. But soon after starting students were dared to rebel and DID! The bootcamp rebellion.
    • The order of the canon was changed. Now "All My Life" is played before "Swing Swing" again.
    • This session, Swashbuckler was cancelled after many people (over 70) had fallen asleep during swashbucker. Because of this, many students signed a petition to bring back swashbucker during the Second Saturday.(115 CAAmpers to be exact). Because this is when the Carnival usually is, the two activities were combined to become "Quadbuckler". This event was seen as a success by the admin and will probably happen again next year, but cAAmpers saw this as a boring activity, mostly spent waiting in lines. ****DID NOT HAPPEN IN 12.2***** swashbuckler was given back thanks to requests****
    • During the talent show there were three epic rap performances, Brandon a.k.a. Infinitee with the song "Cover Girl", Bobby Woody and Joey Penn a.k.a. Unique B. and Chatta with the song "Close Your Eyes", and James Willey a.k.a. The Phantom Prophet with his freestyle to Nas' Nasty.

The Nevermore circle present at the end of the dances was not present at the end of the first dance. Notable CAAers Miles Morgan, Eric Lyness, Mike Hua, and Allie Doyle (among others) fought with the administration in order to secure the tradition. At later dances, the circle was enforced by fellow CAAmpers, notably Nolan Burgos.

    • Mikwa Panties day (named after Mike Hua) started this year, when a group of friends brought leopard print shorts from the Bookstore and wore it over their clothes.
  • 12.1
    • No theme days were held. Some girls in Easton attempted twin/pajama day on the last Wednesday, but only like 12 girls participated.
    • No Casino Night prize was given because halls kept cheating. When the loan-shark Tom died, students tore up his loan records so they couldn't be used. When Spencer and Molly were killed, the money was taken from the bank. Lots of RAs were killed by a ninja assassin dressed in a black suit with a mask. They told us that it was a TA but it was obvious the ninja was the RA Charles
    • Connie, the former Site Director (who was disliked strongly in previous years) was promoted to being a principal and came back for session 1 only as the academic counselor. That was her last time at Easton.
    • Kyle, the Dean of Residential Life would yell "HEEEEYYYY CTY!" and everyone would respond "HEEEEYY WHAT" and remain silent for further instructions. Every time the CAAmpers remained quiet they would get a point and he would loose a point and every time the CAAmpers continued talking they would loose a point and he would gain a point. At the last dance since we were winning he extended the dance and lights out by another half hour. Occurred again at 12.2, although he chose to ignore the fact that we technically were losing.. by a few points.
    • On the last night of 12.1 the RA's were on duty until 5AM preventing sleepovers. Guy RA would monitor the girl dorms and vice versa to ensure that certain RA's were not allowing their students to have sleepovers. Aaron, Justin, and Jeremy famously patrolled Easton Hall with Nerf Guns. Happened again during 12.2, but RAs could sign up for whatever building they wanted.
  • 12.2
    • Extremely suspicious occurrences on the last few days of camp. On the last Wednesday, activities were cancelled for a "thunder storm" (which never occurred*due to the sun...clearly shining*) and students were assigned to watch various movies(assigned by RAs first name initial). No one was allowed in the dorms during this time for whatever reason(from 3pm until almost 5:45pm). Later that night, some classes were not allowed to go outside for breaks during class with various excuses given(notably "more thunderstorms" and "bats"). Various classes in Pardee were on break when they were ordered to return inside under lock and key in classrooms for the remainder of class, it was highly protested.. At about 11:30pm, RAs went around halls and told their students to lock their doors due to "theft problems." From what we can tell, RAs were not given full information, but something was definitely wrong. Various RA's had told there student more than once after lights out to lock doors and even did periodic checks. RA's in Keefe were using the keefe commons(where RA meetings are held) stairs(RA key needed to open) which did not happen during the begining of the session.
      • Apparently this has something to do with an RA being fired. RA Lenny was fired that night and apparently refusing to leave campus. Campus police threatened to arrest him if he did not leave. He was sexually harrassing people and drunk and RAs wanted to make sure he didn't sneak into dorms when he was angry about being fired.
    • Swashbuckler returned!! New days included Zombie Apocalympics, where groups competed in physical activities while various RAs dressed as zombies attempted to steal sashes given to students and Disney Day, with more physical activities (most students chose to stand and watch) and ending with the viewing of either Mulan or The Lion King.
    • Tom and T's hall won CAAsino night by over $80,000. Mikwa, Nolan Burgos, and Joey Penn led the money-earning effort. (substantially more money was present at the end than there was at the beginning of the night).
    • There were minor changes made to the Nevermore Song, which was performed as usual at the end of the Talent Show. "synergy"->"believe you me" "numa numa"->"cupid shuffle"
    • An opera was performed by CTY staff at the Talent Show.
    • Mikwa Panties day returns
    • No-Pants Wednesdays - This was started by the girls in Raquel's hall and was when an extremely large shirt was worn over short shorts on a Wednesday.
  • 13.1
    • Because of the closure of the Bethlehem site at the end of 12.2, this session would be the first session in Easton's history with both Baby CTY'ers present along with regular CAAmpers
    • Cafeteria switched back to the one in Farinon from Marquis Hall last year because of renovations in Farinon.
    • Some campers from Liz's Hall created a "Board of ships" where they "shipped" RAs. They also got Zak to propose to Liz during the second dance while singing "Marry Me" by Bruno Mars. Many RAs, SRAs and also the loan-shark from CAAsino Night were involved in getting Zak to propose to Liz, but in the end it worked. He (Zak) also gave Liz a rose after the RA performance during the talent show. The main people who planned this is Scarlett and Heidi, along with other girls from Liz's Hall, previously from Molly's Hall in 2012, who also got Dane from 12.1 to propose to Molly during CAAsino night in 2012. It's said that while the girls planned for the guy RAs to propose, subsequently also got their hall two-grand in debt and had to get the money back by doing dares from the RAs (including singing Miley Cyrus songs in the middle of the Marlo Room.)
    • American Pie was paused for awhile because of Harrison (the DJ's) computer problems
    • Many people complained there was too much rap in the dances (which was true) and many people did not like the DJ Harrison.
    • Harrison also caused an electrical fire during the last dance.
    • Not many canon songs were played. Only Swing swing, All my life and American Pie was played at every dance though Build me up Buttercup was played at none of the dances.
    • The talent show was combined with Younger Students
    • Illegal sleepovers became legal this year. The rule was 5 people per room though many times campers had more than eight people in one room and sleepovers happened on weekdays as well.

  • 13.2
    • The first site-wide game of Blammo was played, after being organized by two nevermores, Braxton Jones and Kyle Eve-Townsend, who also served as the Blammo Gods. The game saw 90 people sign up and 10 people asking to have a spot reserved on the second game (which sadly never happened. There was a prize offered to the winner: a box of double-stuffed Oreos. The game started on the Second Thursday after a few delays. On the last Friday of camp, there were 17 people still left in the game, so nobody won the prize and Kyle took them back home to Bermuda. Hopefully, the tradition will continue every year.
    • For the first time since 2009, the admins have seemed to relax their stance when it comes to Drag Day at Easton
    • Mikwa Panties day returned after the bookstore started to sell leopard print shots again
    • In week 3, Paranoia Squad (run by RA Tom this year) was finished early and made to sit in the quad separated. This happened after cAAmpers decided to smear shaving cream all over each other (as has happened in previous years with not as much trouble). Because of this, Tom dropped the Buick and ended the activity early. During the time sitting on the quad, a few cAAmpers decided to play the penis game, which made Tom angrier.
    • The Carnival on the Second Saturday returned! However, many cAAmpers were not told what they were doing, so most of them sat under the trees and socialized. Also, I Luv Dem Strippers by 2 Chainz was accidentally played by the DJ and was then quickly turned off.
    • A lot more of the Canon was played at the dances this year, but songs like Here In Your Arms and Smells Like Teen Spirit weren't played at all.
  • 14.1
    • Some RAs from 2012 returned this year, including Charles, Aaron and Rebecca.
    • Alex and Matt did a CTY version of “Fancy” at the talent show.
    • Usually the Nevermore Song only happens in 2nd session, but in 14.1 it was performed in the talent show led by Heidi, Gabbi and other Nevermores.
    • The Nevermore circle was also present at the last dance.
    • No theme days were held except Half Casual Friday, but some girls did attempt Pajama day.
    • Iris was played at all three dances.
    • Khaled proposed to Rebecca at CAAsino Night, and won Prom King and Queen during the last dance
    • Nobody won CAAsino Night because people were stealing money
    • Khaled put white sheets over his head and got chased by CTYers during the activity “Ghost Hunting”
    • During the second week, a bunch of people were kicked out of CTY for smoking pot. Most of them were in Ayari’s hall but some were in other halls. It was rumored that it started with 6 girls smoking it after the talent show in someone’s closet. The girls left the night after they were caught.
    • Passionfruit was held once again, on the upper side of Farinon quad.
    • There was no passionfruit juice at Passionfruit (they used fruit punch.)
    • A lot of visits to the nurse's office. A LOT.

    • Every Friday was "Half-Casual" (pioneered in 2013 by RA Thomas James Gillett), and "Merch Monday", "Twin Tuesday", "Would you Still be my Friend if I Wore This" (turned into cross-dress day), and "T-Shirt Thursday" were encouraged during week 3.
    • RA John Guido started a site wide tradition known as "Eunice", a staring game based off of his high school friend, Eunice. The aim of the game was to yell "1, 2, 3, Eunice!", in a circle, with everyone's heads down, and at the end of this chant, everyone would have to look up and stare at someone else. Individuals would be eliminated as soon as they started to smile. A championship Eunice match was held in the McKeen basement, where Emmett van Venrooy, Jamihl Levine, Chen Guo, James Kim, Justin Zhao,Evan Fu, and Robert Rodriguez played for over 3 and a half hours (split up over the course of 2 weeks). Games of Eunice could be found on the quad, during class, at "Allen vs Nallan", at the dance, and basically everywhere.

    • The Green team won Swashbuckler, with over 8 points, while the Gold team had 1 miraculous point, won due to Dean Dijour's Oreo stacking skills. Red and Blue were close behind Green, and Green faced off with Red for the victory in an outdoor tug of war match.
    • World Cup day was led by France and Germany, who tied for 1st. Activities included a chant (won by France because of their creative parody of Fancy, changing it to "Francy"). Other activities were judged victory screeches, trivia, soccer dribbling relay races, and more.
    • No one was caught smoking pot, but rumors circulated of the previous session's fiasco.
    • Braveheart was brought back, led by RA Sayre Posey. Jake Lawyer led the squadron of yelling CAAmpers, disrupting several activities. He also gave a fiery speech to kick off the screaming.
    • Passionfruit was held once again, on the upper side of Farinon quad, right in front of the library steps.
    • "How to Not be Awkward at the Dance" was run by John Guido and Louis Guerra, featuring bass drops and tasteful slow dancing.
    • RAs John Guido and Louis Guerra demonstrated "A Morning in the LIves of Louis and John", which featured a 3 minute long hand shake, chest-sudoku, and humorous gestures.
    • Camper Alan, the "Recrapper", rapped about spaghetti while playing the recorder with his nose at the Talent Show.

    • Experienced dancer RA Patty performed "Pipa Language" at the Talent Show, amazing the audience.
    • Allen vs. Nallan (Allan Hall became and RA at Easton after Session I had ended, and was thus called Nallan; New+Allan=Nallan). This was essentially the Carnival weekend activity, except the halls were all given a team, either Allen or Nallan. Activities like Eunice, Hoola Hooping, Arm Wrestling (With the handsome RA Christopher Castello), and lip singing were set up. Nallan was the winner, and was given the option to be called "Allan", but refused, and instead Allen would thus be referred to as "Ollen" (Old Allen).
    • This session was slightly less painful than 14.1, with less hospital visits.

Advice to People looking at the Easton campus

  • Be sure to clean up the campus
    • They have been known to take away quad time for leaving messes. Made us clean the entire quad in 12.1!
  • Thank the cafeteria staff
    • And save us all from hearing "Please thank the cafeteria staff" over and over again at hall meetings.
  • clean up dining hall*
  • DON'T SHIT ON THE WALLS!
    • 08.2- there was shit left all over the walls of the boy's bathroom and garbage all over the girl's bathroom, so when they found out, they took away Quad Time until the 'culprits' were found. For one Quad Time, the boys and girls each had 15 in the quad, separately, while the other gender (boys first, then girls) were taken to the Kirby Hall of Civil Rights and sat through about 10 minutes of a lecture given by the SRAs and some RAs. The last 5 minutes were used for 'confessions'. Each person was given a sheet of paper and a pencil and was asked to write down anything they knew about the 'incident' (that's what everyone called it). Even if the person in question didn't know anything about it, they were forced to write 'i do not know anything about this incident' over and over again for 5 minutes. Quad Time was given back shortly after that, though they might not have found the actual 'culprit'. However, as quad time came back, two students, a boy and a girl, got suspended for the rest of the camp. Rumor has it that they were the ones responsible for these incidents, though both students had already been on unrelated probations.
  • Don't play with the salt in the dining hall
    • In 08.1, The salt and pepper shakers were taken away and not put in the middle of the tables as usual. This was because students, mostly in Eric's hall, intentionally gave themselves salt burns. Students were told not to do this as it could by the administration as it could apparently cause frostbite. The ban on salt continued into 08.2.
    • After the salt was returned in the middle of 08.2, it was again taken away after several students pretended that the salt was drugs, which included a few people actually snorting it.
    • In 09.2 the salt was taken away mid-session due to a certain CAAmper pouring the salt in the napkin holders so whenever someone pulled a napkin out of the holder, their food and the person became covered in salt. Everyone knew who did it, but no one spilled.
    • The salt was taken away at the beginning of 10.2 as well, also due to CAAmpers putting salt in the napkin holders. KEEP THE TRADITION GOING!
    • During 11.1, salt was taken away. This ban continued into 11.2 and was not put back onto tables at all. Except one day at a table when the salt was there.
    • Salt was never taken away in 12.1!!! My RA told me it was the first time in years that it never happend!! Salt also remained all through 12.2!
    • Salt wasn't taken away during 13.2 either!
    • Salt WASN'T taken away during 14.2 either too!!!
  • Use the bathroom appropriately
    • In 11.1 going to the bathroom during mealtimes was forbidden after a week or so because people were caught making out in the bathrooms.
    • In 11.2, guys and girls had to use the bathrooms on separate floors of Farinon because people were caught making out.
