Reasons for your ban

Hey there. So it appears that you were involved in an edit war on the Hall of Fame:SAR page. This is the fundamental reason for your ban. While there is no explicit rule against edit wars on the site, I would hope that your first instinct was not to think that it was allowed or approved of. Much like on Wikipedia, fighting via page edits is frowned upon here on RealCTY, and it is prohibited when taken to extremes as it was tonight.

I am not sure if you are, in fact, the person described in the HALF NAKED HALF MILE entry on the HoF:SAR page. If so, you should know that adding oneself to HoF pages is prohibited, primarily because just about every CTYer and his pet awesome legendary imaginary towel-livingCanonsong-awesomegiantpiemonster-friend wants to be a CTY legend. And, if so, this is the real main reason for your ban (especially since you explicitly used the word "legend" repeatedly). Regardless, however, the entry in question nonetheless appears to belong more in the Memories:SAR page than in the Hall of Fame. Take a look at the Help:Editing page for comprehensive criteria concerning HoF pages in general. A better response to its deletion would have been to scrutinize the scope and significance of the entry more carefully, and move it to the Memories page. Deletion of any material that is not inherently and purposefully offensive is pretty much grounds for immediate banning -- this would have kept your entry both visible and safe.

In particular, though, I find it very disappointing that, in response to the edit war, you chose to escalate by deleting other people's content. Had you moved everything to the Memories page in response, your part in this conflict would have been commended, or at least overlooked. Content deletion is against site rules. It is preferred that content deemed insignificant be moved to one of the many, many places on the site where scope and significance are irrelevant. It was wrong for people to delete the HNHM entry outright, but no less wrong for you to delete other entries in response.

So, like I said, unless you're the HNHM guy, the main reason for your ban is that you were involved in an edit war. Your ban will last one week, after which I hope you will return to the site, but avoid conflicts such as this one (unless I decide and/or others convince me that your part in this conflict was worse than I thought -- I don't think this is the case, but then again, it's 4 a.m.). The site gets few Saratogans compared to CTYers from other... sites... and as one of the primary representatives of your community, I ask that you look at your own edits more objectively with regard to scope and significance, and that you take more care -- ideally, the same level of care -- when dealing with others' content, and give it the same treatment you would give your own edits.

Also, you ought to avoid impersonating or speaking for admins in the future. Ultimately, you end up trying to speak for me, and you don't seem to have that down very well.

(The reasons described above are basically the same reasons for User:Heisatcty09's and User:AmericanPi's bans.)

You are, by the way, free to appeal your ban, although since it's relatively short, unless one of the admins or other people who serve as my checks convince me otherwise, I'll probably just let it sit.
