Duke TIP
TIP is a talent identification program similar to CTY but run by Duke. Of the kids who have attended both camps, some prefer CTY, and some prefer TIP. Students that have attended TIP are called TIPsters. It is a well known fact that CTY and TIP share many traditions, such as American Pie, Time Warp, et cetera. American Pie, as far as anybody knows, dates back before recorded history for both camps, and therefore cannot be considered "stolen" by anybody. Many TIPsters therefore believe that neither party "stole" the tradition from the other. Similarly, Time Warp likely originated at both camps for the same reason: because the Rocky Horror (picture) Show is nerdy, and also, both camps are quite nerdy.
If you'd like to learn more about TIP and gain insights on their perspectives, visit their wiki [1] here, but please stay respectful and do not edit their wiki. The TIP wiki is formatted somewhat differently than our own.
Information about TIP summer sessions can be found here [2]. Their campuses are split up by grade, so seventh and some eighth graders are grouped together and eighth through tenth graders are grouped together. In contrast, at CTY, seventh through eleventh graders share the same campus areas and are grouped based on classes.
CTD (Center for Talent Development) is similar to CTY and TIP but is run by Northwestern University.
