Site Overview
While considered to be one of the stricter sites in the program, it is still enjoyable for the students. RAs patrol around the buildings after lights out - the rules are enforced strictly at this site. Closing the blinds and plugging in the door with a towel allowed one room in 08.2 in Stonewall II to keep desk lamps on, however. The cafeteria's food quality is good, although the variety is low. The salad/fruit bar has a wide variety of healthy options for those looking for that in dorm food. The fries or onion rings with the cheese sauce are quite good together. However, "home-made" mac & cheese is good, which is adding the cheese sauce from The Grill to the macaroni from La Cucina. Bristol is an athletic site and sports are an important part of activities and general site fun. Popular sports include Foursquare (yes, it is a sport), basketball, volleyball, ultimate frisbee and soccer. It rarely ever rains in Bristol, and the sun is always out, making it a pleasant 80 degrees most of the time. Sleepovers are held Friday nights after the dances and Saturday nights as well.  In 11.2, most of the guy halls were permitted to have sleepovers every night as long as the RA was not able to hear them and their lights were out.  This caused many problems with staying awake in most of their classes. Dances occur on the first and second Fridays and the third Thursday. CAAsino Night happens on the first Saturday. The Talent Show normally is on the second Saturday. Normally, Water Day would be in the afternoon on the afternoon of last Saturday or Sunday. Other activities take place on the first weekend, for example, a carnival, trivia day, Harry Potter Day, a  scavenger hunt etc. Most sessions, a student versus staff sporting event is held. In 13.2, there were two: a soccer game and a basketball game. In 14.2, it was an ultimate frisbee game. In cases of inclement weather, alternative activities are offered to those who signed up for outdoor ones. The alternate activities may include board games, arts and crafts, a movie or an open gym with a bunch of random sports equipment. All-site meetings have been weird ever since a Baby CTY site merged with this CAA site in 2014. The site director has attempted to make jokes and the Baby CTYers just annoy everyone when they perform their "skits". (Read below, 14.2 Notable Occurrences for more information on that.)

Bristol has all-site meetings, which have been weird ever since Baby CTY merged with this CAA site in 2014. The site director has attempted to make jokes and the Baby CTYers just annoy everyone when they perform their "skits". (Read below, 14.2 Notable Occurrences for more information on that.)
*During Session 1, Students go to the July 4th parade and Carnival in Bristol because Bristol held the first July 4th Celebration in the United States. This tradition, for no apparent reason, was not upheld in 2008 as well as 2010 and students in session 1 2012 where not taken because of a big chance that it would rain; it never did. In 13.1, there was a petition going on, majority of the site signed it, and Tracy (or another nevermore) wrote the letter. During the hall meeting we received the response of the Site Director. There wasn't too many staff to take care of many CTYers. At night we skipped night class and saw a movie on the grass. Lots of couples had the time to makeout, but RAs would walk around and cockblock with a flashlight on. Fireworks were being shot on the other side of the bridge.

*The Game, as at most sites, is prevalent at Bristol.

*Frisbee was extremely popular amongst students and staff during session 11.1

*Soccer Foursquare became crazy in session 11.2

*The carnival/fair, "Colombian Fathers."

*Castles (It was the best when there is Jay Ben in charge :D)

*12.2 was an incredible year! everyday illegal sleepovers in stonewall 3! It was something special than other years, everybody knew EVERYBODY! they were all so friendly, and the food was the best! I recomend the grill cheese and pizza, they are not greasy. Take lots of selfies with eveybody!

*13.1 was waaaaaaay different than other years, stonewall 1&2 were girls and stonewall 3&4 were guys dorms. The food was cold majority of the time, we couldn't take out food, everybody had there little groups. Lots of CAAmpers would sneak out spoons and forks for the cup soups or noodles at night. Tom wasnt there anymore, and Molly took over, she was new so it was none traditional. After activities instead of going back to our dorms to change(like previous years)the RAs would take us directly to dinner! There was no Casino Prep. , 2 dances were made in the Bio center infront of the main quad. Not a good place to dance, but has a beautiful scenery.

*14.2 "Mr. Brightside" was added to the Canon.

*Water day is a common tradition, but was not upheld in 14.2 because of rain.

*A spirit week happens during the last week, but you don't need to participate in it. In 15.2, the days were: Twin Day, Jersey Day, and I forget the rest.

*There are staff versus student games. The first weekend was a basketball game but we ran out of time to play the staff so it was just students. The second week was soccer, and it was better organized. There were rotating student teams against one staff team.

The Yachtsman
+
The Site Director and Administrative Staff will give a stern presentation on consent, respect, etc. on the very first day, including hilarious skits (in which she never actually says yes).
The Yachtsman is an urban legend used by the RAs to explain and enforce Bristol's strict rules. The story goes something like this...

In the summer of 2003, CTYers at Bristol were allowed to take kayaks out into the water near RWU. CTY was always very careful about which students they would allow on the outings. For one thing, you had to be able to swim and your parents had to sign a release form. However, one student, whose name has been lost through retellings, managed to bypass this rule. The waters in the bay were a little rough that day, so the chaperone called the students over to finish for the day. Most of them did without a fuss, but the one boy who didn't have a release refused. Eventually, he fell out of his kayak and (seeing that the boy wasn't swimming) the professor jumped in after him. The professor managed to get the boy back in his kayak, but hit his own head in the effort. The professor passed out in the water and was announced dead at an all-site meeting later that day.

Stonewall Terrace I-IV
For the next few days, life at CTY went on as planned. Students went to class, meals and activities just like they always had and eventually talk of the professor's death faded.
+
The four Residential Halls. Stonewall 1 & 2 are the boys' dorms and Stonewall 3 & 4 are the girls' dorms. There are no more kitchenettes on the dorm floors; you have to ask your RA to go down to the staff lounge and heat food in the microwave for you.  A kitchenette was removed from a dorm building before 13.1 and replaced with useless shelves. Stonewall I is is home to the CTY offices, including the nurse. All Stonewall buildings lack paper towels in the bathroom. Don't be surprised to find mold in Stonewall Terrace. Being that close to the ocean, it is everywhere. In 08.1, two girls' halls on the first floor had to move up two floors to get away from it. RAs recommend that CTYers keep windows in the rooms closed because of the humidity. Later on, most floors in the residential halls had microwaves again, which are not to be used after 10:00 at night, but some RAs let that slide. In 19.1, one CTYer tried to microwave ramen, but unfortunately the microwave miraculously broke, causing smoke (and a potential fire) and the removal of the microwaves for all 19.2 students. RAs patrol the buildings after lights out - the rules are enforced strictly. Closing the blinds and plugging in the door with a towel allowed one room in 08.2 in Stonewall II to keep desk lamps on, however.
However, this didn't last long.

The same male student who weaseled his way onto the outing went missing a few days later. The site tried to pass it off as an expulsion for breaking such an important rule and again, life went on at CTY Bristol. Rumors began to crop up all over the place until the entire site was dominated by one story: The drowned professor had left a warning that he would be handling misbehaving students in his own mannerr, and he was the sole reason for the boy's disappearance.

23.2 Edit:
*Stonewall Terrace I-IV: The 4 Residential Halls

**Stonewall 1 & 2 are the girls' dorms and Stonewall 3&4 are the boys' dorms.

**There are no more kitchenettes on the dorm floors; you have to ask your RA to go down to the staff lounge and heat food in the microwave for you.

**A kitchenette was removed from a dorm building before 13.1 and replaced with useless shelves.

**Stonewall I is is home to the CTY offices, including the nurse.

**All Stonewall buildings are constantly lacking paper towels in the bathroom.

**Don't be surprised to find mold in Stonewall Terrace. Being that close to the ocean, it is everywhere. In 08.1, two girls' halls on the first floor had to move up two floors to get away from it. The RAs strongly recommend that CTYers keep windows in the rooms closed because of the humidity.

**Now, most floors in these residential halls have microwaves, which are not to be used after 10:00 at night.

*Recreation Center (AKA The Field House): Home to the gym, a small billiards room and the swimming pool.

**Most Assemblies (i.e. talent show, opening ceremony, all-site meetings) and dances occur in the gym.

*The Commons: Home to the Dining Hall and Bookstore.

*The Quad: The Quad has an actual name, but nobody refers to it as anything but The Quad, so knowing it is completely useless. The Quad is home to social time, meals on the Fourth of July when the Commons is closed, and many activities. The Quad used to have a lovely ocean view, but the addition of a new research facility has almost completely blocked it. The Quad has a statue of Roger Williams on a giant rock, but no CTYers are allowed to actually go on the rock.

*The Frog Pond: Many classes choose to take their breaks, or even have their classes, here. It is approximately halfway between Stonewall Terrace and the Commons. All students pass the pond a minimum of six times a day, but students are all but forbidden to go near it unless brought there specifically by a faculty or staff member. Frog watching, an activity that pops up now and then takes place here.

** During 12.2 Plasma swam in the Frog Pond!

*CAS is where the humanities, writing, and math classes are held. The only science class held here is Whales.

*The School of Engineering is where some of the classes are held including Engineering and Astronomy.

*Marine and Natural Science (most commonly abbreviated as MNS) is where most of the science classes are held including Biotech, Zoology, Chemistry, and Anatomy.

*The Couples' Rock: the Couples' Rock is a common place for the CTY couples to hang out and not get punished for PDA during social time. While no one is technically allowed on the Rock itself, all campers are allowed near or around the rock. The Rock sits in front of Stonewall III and in front of the Frog Pond. The Rock is surrounded by a few picnic tables and is the location for social time five nights per week.

Activities
Stonewall 1 & 2 are the girls' dorms, and Stonewall 3 & 4 are the boys' dorms. Each floor has a microwave, but no fridge. Stonewall still has all of the administrative offices, including the nurse. The nurses are all very kind, but if you get injured in any way and need some ice, you will be given a frozen sponge to quell the pain. The RAs tell the students not to open the windows to keep the salty air and humidity out. Two individuals on the first floor of Stonewall 4 opened their windows and went outside, only to have another person in their hall lock them outside all night. On the second floor of Stonewall 2, a CTYer microwaved popcorn incorrectly, causing the fire alarms to go off, and people who were showering to go outside in their towels. No removal of microwaves was issued after. The staff are strict about lights out and ISOs, and will give you a very judging glance if you need to use the restroom at 10:01.
*Weekly

**Ultimate Frisbee - a very popular activity at Bristol

**Cloud Watching - the most popular activity at Bristol since it does not involve any physical or mental activity or participation. It is like another social time in which most people play cards, talk, or play Four Square

**Soccer Four Square- created by RA Joe in 11.1

**Swimming - in the Rec Center but in 11.1 and 11.2 it was changed to a daily (in 15.2 it was changed to a weekly)

**Boot camp - extreme work out

**Hunger Games - Training, rules and the Games. For more information, see below Notable Occurrences of 14.2.

**Volleyball - at the outdoor volleyball court outside the Baby CTY dorms on the north side of campus. Normally a terrible experience for anyone who actually wants to play volleyball. However, if you don't really want to play volleyball, cloud watching will be allowed.

**JD's Hip Hop - activity led by computer programming instructor JD; this activity performs at the talent show on the second Saturday of the session. Normally really embarrassing.

**Tabata- An exercise course in which the RA doing it will make you literally work out.

*Daily

**Castles - writing poems, playing Monkey-in-the-middle, and getting rolled up a hill

**The Best Activity ever - will either be the worst activity ever or the best activity. No one knows.

**The Worst Activity Ever - Like The Best Activity Ever, this will either be the worst activity ever or the best activity. No one knows.

**Not Swinging Your Lanyard - anything but swinging your lanyard

**Braveheart - invading other activities

**Espionage - spying on other activities, which basically lets you join them

**Zumba - actual Zumba dances with the RAs

**Absolutely Nothing - Literally, one is forbidden to do anything.

Most of the Stonewalls have a vending machine, but Stonewall 1 has the best drinks and food (you can get into the building by going with the kids who need medication). Stonewall 4 has no vending machines or water fountain.
*10.2:

**Unknown to most of the campers, four kids in Jay Ben's hall counterfeited CAAsino Night money in order to win. They counterfeited $1200 worth of CAAsino Night money and ended up with $1600 in total. By being the hall with the most money, they won an extra sleepover.

**After the Casino night, two RAs got nicknamed due to noodle fight: Jessica "Mount Crushmore" and Matt "Manderson"

**Mucha Ropa is a tradition first started by CTYers in 10.2 who were in Nick and Joe T.'s hall. Mucha Ropa means "Many Clothes" or "Too many clothes" in Spanish. By saying this, you are technically instructing people to take off their clothes becuase they have too many. It was also known as Nick and Joe T.'s hall call. It quickly spread through the campus as even girls and RAs were saying it.

***Pronounced: "Mucha Rooooooooopa" and repeat

**Jay Ben was known as "the Squirrel"

**This site is mostly invaded by Arizonians from San Luis, AZ (border town) every year, both sessions, there must be at least one CTYer from AZ. They are the most noticeable CAAmpers in the site because they are loud and so happy. They are very social, and they know how to dance! (**13.1 during social time, they were teaching how to dance "Banda, and Merengue". Lots of people joined, others just saw and cheered.) Very social, but majority of the time they WILL be speaking in Spanish due to their background and language spoken at home.

**Los Angeles also sends lots of CTYers to Bristol! They are the craziest, the best, most sociable people ever! So easy to talk to, and they are hilarious!

*13.1

**CAMERON the RA was the beeeeest!

*13.2:

**A shower in Stonewall 2 turned purple when a camper died her hair. The normal white color of the shower was never restored.

**When a ratchet baby seagull fell off of The Commons, everyone wanted to see the little baby gray fluff ball until RA Myles got dive bombed by eight of the baby seagull's fellow bird friends. No one was allowed to go near the bird after that.

**Never Have I Ever was banned after SRA Molly decided that the content discussed during this game was much too mature for the CTY students.

*14.1:

**International Students

***Hong Kong (Adish)

***Belgium & Poland (Kenji)

***Beijing (Helen)

***France (Paul)

**The site was way different than last year because the RAs were super strict and there was barely any freedom. Also, the site overpopulated and it was impossible to find a seat in the cafeteria.

**Dances

***The first dance was held in Global Heritage Hall, but the lights were on the entire time and most people stood on the balcony and watched

***The second and third dances were held in the gym and they were fun.

**CTY Cliques

***The Hackey Sack

***The Crew

***The Twerk Crew

***The Arizonians

**During Passionfruit the RAs ripped us off and gave us cranberry juice instead of passionfruit juice.

**Can I get a hooiyah??? (Alicia)

*14.2

**Dances

***Foosball was a popular alternative to the dances during 14.2. While everyone was forced to go to the dances, many people chose to stay outside of the gym itself and play foosball and socialize without being surrounded by a giant orgy of sweaty people jumping up and down in the dark to bad music.

***Themes

****Hawaiian

*****RA Kristen DJed

****Candy Land

*****RA Josh disc jockeyed the second dance and nearly blew out the speakers. The music was so bad that people left the gym and refused to go back. Except for the candy. The candy was the only reason to go back into the gym.

*****During Candy Land, Pixy Stix were given out. The majority of the people outside of the gym called these drugs. The Pixy powder was everywhere. Blue was the most popular by far. People would open the Pixy Stix out by the foosball table and makes lines with them on the pool table and snort them like cocaine. The following week, the powder remained.

****Winter Wonderland

*****No one knows who DJed this one. Maybe it was RA Shaunna. But no one knows for sure.

*****"Pixy Dicks"

**Foursquare

***Soccer Foursquare got so popular that at one point during quad time there was no hand Foursquare game going on.

***Invisible Foursquare happened.

***Many people new to CTY (Moriah) were unfamiliar with the proper rules of Foursquare.

**CAAsino Night

***Initially, RA Cam's Hall was thought to be the winner of CAAsino Night. However, later developments suggest that a different boys' hall was crowned the winner. A video of RA Cam being pied (the winner's prize) is posten on Instagram somewhere.

****The winning hall then proceeded to pie Cam in the face, as their prize.

***Haslee's hall stole thousands of dollars from the Bank, so they got disqualified. They then had an opportunity to be re-qualified, which required them to publicly confess to their crimes and give back all money taken from the Bank AND their own rightfully earned money. It was later announced that all disqualifications were void.

***Josh's hall had a similar experience to Haslee's. They robbed the Bank and were disqualified, so they began giving away money because it didn't matter anymore. But then the staff vetoed all disqualifications.

***Girls resorted to prostitution, trading hugs for money.

***Those in jail paid others to bail them out.

**The Hunger Games

***During the last week of the session, the weekly activity Hunger Games was popular. Each tribute was given five (5) lives and assorted tools -- like weapons, skills and survival tools. Each weapon required the person attacked to give up a specified amount of lives. The Gamemakers would change certain elements of the games, like the weather. Some people tried to bargain their way out of dying completely, saying, "Here, you can have one of my lives and my sleeping bag. The Gamemakers said they were really rare."

***CTYer Miguel was vicious and broke all alliances with others. To the sponsors' happiness, Miguel did not come out as victor; Kevin with the clear plastic glasses did. This was due to the fact that all those allied with Kevin and his friends gave their remaining lives to him right before the game ended. No sponsor gave Miguel anything because he killed everyone and took the game way too seriously.

****I think we have to give him some credit for being his awesome self, though.

***Many alliances were formed. To name some:

****The Latino Alliance

****The Brown People Alliance

****The Asian Alliance

****The Erick Alliance

****THE Alliance

***Most participants were a part of at least one of these alliances.

**Trivia Day

***RA Trivia

***Song Trivia

***Free throws

***CTY Rap creation

***Passing ping-pong ball from one end of a line of hallmates to other and back

***Silent organization or hallmates following certain criteria

***CTY-themed Pictionary

**CTYers

***CTYer Miguel caused a fire drill when he burned popcorn in the microwave so bad that it set off the alarm. All four Stonewalls were forced to evacuate.

***CTYer Dakota had beanies that an estimated 90% of the student body wore at some point during the session.

***CTYer Sneha Kannan had a lovely trip to the emergency room after she (accidentally) stabbed herself in the hand with a brand new scalpel during a cow eye dissection (ANPY).

****Everyone in her class came to the conclusion that their instructor Bernard put new blades on the scalpels for a reason: he hated us all.

****Later in the session, that same CTYer ran down the stairs, fell on her back, and was unable to walk properly for a week. Great measures were taken as Brian the SRA had to drive her from the Quad to the nurse in a golf cart.

***CTYer Trevor was quite popular among the other CTYers. He used the classiest pickup lines such as "It's hot here now that you came" followed by "I'm smooth". He had quite an expansive vocabulary for offending people of different genders and hair colors. All of his verbal offenses were reluctantly forgiven on the last night of the session. He was one of the most irritating people to play Foursquare with. And if not one of the most, he was the most. Many knew of his rivalry with CTYer Katie G after he seriously offended her one day in the Foursquare line during quad time. They were bitter towards each other until the last night when she involuntarily forgave him and they hugged it out.

***CTYer "LeBron" was apparently "never intimidated" by CTYer Katie G.

****LeBron said to Katie one day, "You don't intimidate me."

****LeBron said to Katie on the last night, "You didn't intimidate me," and he hugged Katie.

***CTYer Samantha was nicknamed Babyface within the first week of the session. The name stuck, eventually resulting in her being embarrassed in front of the entire student body by her RA at CAAsino Night.

***There was one 12-year-old blonde girl.

****She a hoe.

***One girl in Stonewall III was voluntarily tied up with tape and put into a closet with a bucket over her head while other girls videotaped and took pictures.

****The videos and pictures were later published online.

***CTYer Katie G was feared by many. She was known as "that girl" in Foursquare. She made many alliances, but unintentionally failed to comply with the standard alliance rules on occasion.

****"Her. Get That Girl out. She'll betray you."

***CTYer Moriah was known to always ask for a redo every round she played Foursquare in every version (regular, soccer, eight square, eight triangle etc.)

****Moriah: * playing Foursquare and gets out * "Can I have a redo, just one redo please"

****Rest of CTYers playing Foursquare and in line fore Foursquare: "No way" "Get out" "There are no redos"

***CTYer Moriah was also known for walking down the Foursquare line looking to find someone she could cut in line with.

***CTYer Moriah was famous for arguing with the CTY alumnae and alumni over the official rules of Foursquare. She believed that she could set the rules herself even if she wasn't actually playing the game at the time.

**Haslee’s Girls

***Haslee's Girls gave boys in Josh's Hall the "insecurity talk".

***Haslee's girls were constantly caught stealing Train Station, her stuffed animal, from her bedroom. At one point, Katie G took Train Station and kept him/her in one of her empty drawers in her bedroom for a whole night. Train Station mysteriously reappeared the next morning at Haslee's door.

***"Draw me like one of your French girls."- A girl from Haslee's hall, who wishes to remain anonymous.

***RIP Shelby Fusua Grotskan. You were the prettiest fetal pig dissected.

**Josh's boys

***Josh's boys downloaded a fart app. Number 19 on the app was known as the Peking Duck. To many people's disgust, the boys played with this app in the bathroom, outside Josh's bedroom and throughout campus when walking from place to place.

***Three of Josh's boys took videos of moaning in the pitch black of their bedroom to simulate masturbation and/or sexual intercourse.

****They later sent these videos to many people.

**Baby CTY

***Baby CTY's Inductive and Deductive Reasoning class performed an American Pie parody at the last all-site meeting, which offended all of the OS student body. They held up signs for each word in their parody, with an extra "Inde" at the end, which confused everyone.

****"Pi, pi mathematical pi, 3-point-1-4-1-5-9" INDE.

****Direct quote from CTYer: "This has officially ruined American Pie for me."

***Baby CTY's Examining the Evidence class scarred the entire site with their "Pubis, don't touch this" song and dance about the bones in the human body.

**Site Director quotes

***Pink monkeys or brown monkeys?

***Site Director: I say 'CT', you say 'Y'. CT

***CTYers: WHY

***Baby CTYers: Y!!!!

**When water day was cancelled due to rain, many CTYers went to the alternate activity Board Games. There, some played Apples to Apples. There was a lengthy debate about whether Detroit or the NRA was scarier.

***"But Detroit is scary because of the NRA."

***Detroit won that round.

**ANPY boys bonded over their not being circumcised, subsequently scarring the other girls and college tours that witnessed this interaction.

***Unfortunately, these two boys were sitting on either side of a girl. So in class when the instructor was talking about circumcision, one of the boys said, "Haha, not me!" and the other said "Me either!" and they fist bumped. The girl sitting in between them was mortified, as were all other girls that were present during this time.

**Two students in Anatomy were sent into timeout when they were caught throwing out gum wrappers during class.

***Bernard (instructor): What are you doing?

***Students: Throwing out gum wrappers.

***Bernard: It didn't look like that. Go to the hall.

***They were out in the hall for about 45 minutes.

***And they were probably making out the entire time. (Theory from the rest of the class)

**Muscles were used as insults. All of these completely confused all who were spoken to this way.

***"You, gastrocnemius!"

***"Why do you have to be such a sternocleidomastoid?"

**The pronunciation of "vitamins" was debated among the ANPY class.

***Vytamins or vitamins? No one knows.

****Student: "Who says vitamins like 'vitamins'?"

****Instructor: "British people."

**Twerking lessons were given and filmed.

***And they were then sent to the twerking teacher's CTY boyfriend's hallmate, Sean.

**There was some sort of bizarre, peanutty smell in MNS one day so ANPY had to learn the reproductive system outside while college tours were going on. The computer programming instructor JD participated in this class, asking questions and following along with the instructor while he ignored his own programming students.

***JD raised his hand and discussed his concerns about prostate cancer with the class.

**Over $150 in pizza was ordered from one boys' hall alone. All in one night.

**People wore cardboard and duct tape outfits for the rest of the day following their daily activity Trashon, (pronounced "Trashin", like fashion).

**Social time was taken away for a night after the dining hall was left a mess.

**Social time was taken away from Haslee's girls after their common area was left a mess. This did not stop the girls from finding a way of communicating with the outside world. They managed to open a window and talk to people outside from the third floor. RA Kristen (the CO-RA for Haslee's floor) went outside and found them looking out the window. The girls got into trouble with RA Kristen, the other RA on their floor, that night.

**Some serious Duke TIP dissing happened.

***"Duke TIP is so stupid. Like, I may have qualified for it, but that's so stupid!"

***CTYers are still upset that the American Pie tradition began with Duke TIP. (amen to that. it's true. i have a friend who is a TiPster)

**The time outside and in front of Stonewall II after the last dance was very emotional.

**Drag Day didn't happen. Many CTYers were quite sad about this, as they had anticipated its occurrence.

*16.1:
+
For any musically gifted CTYers, there is unfortunately no private space to practice. You must store your instrument in your room/dorm, and practice there as well. You may use an empty dorm room for storage and practice, if space allows, but it makes little difference compared to your room.
**Hydrate or Diedrate was popular around campus

**Foursquare was a popular activity during quad time

**Students were not allowed to order pizza on the weekends or go into town for the Fourth of July parade

**Many CTYers were from Easton 15.1 and were very chill with the DRL Sayre

**WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOS YOUR DADDY?

**RA Tommy was the greatest

**One of the Caasino Night prizes included going on lights out rounds with SRA Teddy, which meant banging on doors and waking up actual sleeping campers

**PORTUGAL. (ITALY)

**CTYer Devin Zhang brought his speaker everywhere on campus and played lit music. His hall (RA Tommy) became the most turnt hall on campus.

**Tommy's hall managed to never have normal lights out until the start of the last week of session, due to the natural characteristics of troublemaking from his 17 sons

**"Dress Your RA DAY" (One hall changed this to half-casual day in honor of Easton's Half-Casual Fridays), "Twin Day", and "Wacky Wednesday" (C'mon, we all know this is Drag Day) all happened

**Quite a bit of homewrecking went on..
+
There was an issue with items being stolen in Stonewall 4 session 23.2. CTY and RW Safety has looked into the issue, but there are no updates currently. Lock your doors!
**Spermicide

***LUBNA LUBNA LUBNA. I GOT BROADS IN INDIA

**CTYer Johnny's perfomance(s) was lit af in the talent show

**The food was good on most days except for the rice being an insult to Asian cuisine

**DRL Sayre had a pebble road run by the shore one morning and it was beautiful

**Tennis balls were often thrown at the windows of dorms who didn't understand the concept of lights out

**Passionfruit was held by the shore, the perfect place to watch the sunrise

**Last Thursday's lunch was extremely emotional

**More music played after one American Pie, angering many

**Pokemon Go came with storm on the second Thursday of camp, with many people screaming and running around.

** Marvin's Martians

***RA Marvin's hall pulled off a heist of $201,000 at casino night, and therefore won it. because we are the best hall, Marvin's Martians are the best

***and Marvin is the best RA

***CTY-er Yassine Chentouf of marvins hall would scream marvins name at every hand off, at every activity which he led

***MARVIN'S MARTIANS WE DONT CARE, LEAVING CTY JUST ISNT FAIR (the first chant was very NSFW)

**Iris was only played at the last dance

**American Pie was messed up with people on their phones around the edge (the last dance was fine however)

**There was a surprisingly large amount of Nevermores

**A few nevermores got staff laynards

**Andrew Dawson was sent to jail 5 minutes after Casino Night began

**Alex Nill went close to commando on Wacky Wednesday, but no one complained.

** RA powercouple = Daddy Tommy and Mommy Sara truly outdid "17 kids and counting" with over 20 kids from 2 halls.

* 16.2
+
The Quad
**RA powercouple = Daddy Greg and Mommy Natalie, with their 10 sons being the boys in Greg's hall.
+
The Quad has an actual name, but nobody refers to it as anything but The Quad, so knowing it is completely useless. The Quad is home to social time, meals on the Fourth of July when the Commons is closed, and many activities. The Quad used to have a lovely ocean view, but the addition of a new research facility (called the Global Heritage Hall) has blocked it. The Quad has a statue of Roger Williams on a giant rock, but no CTYers are allowed to go on the rock.
**Many Easton 15.2 members reunited at the Bristol site with DRL Sayre Posey
+

**Blammo was brought to Bristol this session
+
The Frog Pond
**The Blammo Gods (Justin Adel, Justin Zhao, Haeju Jeong, and Sangmin Lee) were notoriously known for being loud, obnoxious, always lit, and rather rowdy. They were even identified as the 'lit squad'.
+
Many classes choose to take their breaks, or even have their classes, here. It is halfway between Stonewall Terrace and the Commons. All students pass the pond a minimum of six times a day, but students are forbidden to go near it unless brought there by a faculty or staff member. Frog watching, an activity that pops up now and then, takes place here. During 12.2, Plasma swam in the Frog Pond!
**Justin Adel was widely known for his constant smiles
+

**All four members played Rock/Paper/Scissors every meal in order to determine who takes all the plates (this includes plates of Catherine Yen and Loren Yu). In addition, the loser would receive spanks with the big, white god spoons, and he would also have to wear a maid apron, which was purchased off of Amazon Prime.
+
The Couples' Rock
** Sangmin Lee constantly lost and was chronically heard saying "DON'T SPANK HARD... OWWWW"
+
The Couples' Rock is a common place for the CTY couples to hang out and not get punished for PDA during social time. While no one is allowed on the Rock itself, campers are allowed near or around the rock. The Rock sits in front of Stonewall III and in front of the Frog Pond. The Rock is surrounded by a few picnic tables and is the location for social time five nights per week.
** All four Blammo Gods were essentially blood brothers.
+

**CTYer Eric Ma developed an ongoing inside joke with CTYer from the previous session, Andrian Chan, that the two boys were in fact brothers. Eric's first reaction when he spotted Tommy on arrival day was to scream at the top of his lungs that he was Andrian's brother.
+
As of 23.2, the Rock is not used at all, except for Passion Fruit. Speak loudly if you are presenting a speech, because it is impossible to hear.
**RA Bobby claims credit for the "brother" idea, even though all of the other RA's know that Andrian and Eric came up with it.
+

**Blammo God Justin Adel was often caught flashing toothy smiles on camera by Fausto Alvarez. Eventually, Adel had to close his mouth when people said his name because there were too many Snapchat stories of him smiling.
+
As of 24.1, the Rock is available for all during both breaks and quad time.
**Winner of Blammo went to RA Sebastian Saw, as he Blammo'd RA Tommy during breakfast on move out day.
+

**The Nevermore/Nomore circle was present at the last dance
+
Dining Hall
**Passionfruit was a success with many great speeches
+
The cafeteria's food quality is good, although the variety is low. The salad/fruit bar has a wide variety of healthy options for those looking for it in dorm food. The fries or onion rings with the cheese sauce are quite good together. "Home-made" mac & cheese, which is adding the cheese sauce from The Grill to the macaroni from La Cucina, is good. Sometimes they have tea, which is also very good. The strategy is to take many tea bags when they have it to make tea on the days they don't have tea out.
**Josh Song was expelled from the program after sneaking out of his building at night to see his girlfriend.
+

**Campers Greg Gomez and Brooke Schumacher constantly would hook up under a blanket during social time. They pretty much showed tons of PDA, in which many thought was cute and many thought was nasty.
+
Other Locations
***Ra's were not allowed to intervene for an unknown/unconfirmed reason
+
* Recreation Center (AKA The Field House): Home to the gym, a small billiards room and the swimming pool. Most assemblies (e.g. talent show, opening ceremony, all-site meetings) and dances occur in the gym.
**Blammo god Haeju Jeong was known for his iconic dab, which debuted during the first blammo announcement
+
* The Commons: Home to the Dining Hall and Bookstore.
**RA Tommy DJ'd the last dance and killed it with a lit playlist
+
* CAS: Where the humanities, writing, and math classes are held. The only science class held here is Whales.
**Slow Songs at the last dance were: Forever Young, Stairway to Heaven, Can I have this Dance, Iris, and Stay with Me
+
* The School of Engineering: Where some of the classes are held, including Engineering and Astronomy.
**Kabir was known for always mercilessly getting people own in soccer foursquare during breaks and during quad times
+
* Marine and Natural Science: Abbreviated as MNS, it is where most of the science classes are held, including Biotech, Zoology, Chemistry, and Anatomy.
**Whenever something was needed from amazon, people would ask Blammo God Justin Zhao to amazon prime it for them
+
* The Business School: Located on the opposite side of the library on The Quad, this building houses the computer science courses, but other classes occasionally take advantage of the computer labs inside of the building. The building is always open, and there are bathrooms if you ever need them during Quad time.
**Ordering food was not allowed on the last day due to Progragm Manager Joshu showing up, causing every RA and every student to be alert of what they said
+
* The Soccer Field: It's a soccer field. The Staff v. Student soccer game is played here.
**Sleepovers on different floors were also not permitted during the last day due to the incident with Josh Song and because Joshu was visiting
+
* The Basketball Court: It's a basketball court. The Staff v. Student game is not played here.
**RA Sara was known for being super chill around students
+
* Tennis Courts and Staff Lodging: The tennis courts are located past the basketball courts and soccer field. There's little shade and  a lot of blinding sun, so bring sunscreen, a hat, and/or sunglasses. If you ask nicely to go to the bathroom, the RA will take you to the building where Staff live (it's nicer than the Stonewalls). In the common room where the bathrooms are, there is a Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream vending machine (bring a few dollars and a spoon), ping pong with no rackets, pool, table hockey and various other games to play instead of tennis. It helps if the RA you are with is willing to pretend going to the bathroom takes a while. Don't stay too long though, the other RA in charge will get suspicious (and jealous about the ice cream).
**Sayre and Sara's sisterhood retreat had students chanting the Phi Mu chant along with creating the Phi Mu sign with their fingers
+
* The Beaches: If you follow the path behind the Global Heritage Hall, you will stumble upon a wonderful view of the ocean. Activities such as "Walk by the Water," "Nature Walk," "Wave Watching," and "Rock Skipping," are held there. There are cool rocks, crabs, broken knives, and plenty of other cool items to find. On seashell path by the water, there is an apple tree next to the frisbee golf station. They are good apples.
***WITH A P AND AN H AND AN I-M-U I KNEW I KNEW I'D LOVE PHI MU
+
* The Huge Field above the parking lot that I don't know the name of: As the name suggests, it's a huge field. This is where Water Day is held. It also hosts activities, such as kickball.
**There were A LOT of couples during this session
+
* Global Heritage Hall (GHH): The thing blocking the view from the rock, where dances are hosted, and where some classes, namely International Politics and Astronomy, are hosted.
**Blammo God Haeju Jeong forget his backpack one night after night social time
+

**He called public safety and checked the lost and found many times but never found it. He lost his MacBook Air and other items
+
Student Life
**There was a 16 year old ginger... she a hoe.
+

 +
Dances
 +
Dances occur on the first and second Fridays and the third Thursday. They will be held in the Global Heritage Hall. The auditorium will have a movie, or on the last dance, a slideshow with all the fun memories you've made. The outside patio is also open. Despite Staff insistence on it only being used for those who "need a moment" from the dance and to be used only for five minutes, people will openly hang out and chill there. Snacks and water are offered.
 +

 +

 +
Casino Night happens on the first Saturday. The Talent Show normally is on the second Saturday. Water Day is in the afternoon on the afternoon of last Saturday or Sunday. Other activities take place on the first weekend, for example, a carnival, trivia day, Harry Potter Day, a  scavenger hunt etc. In case of inclement weather, alternative activities are offered to those who signed up for outdoor ones. The alternate activities may include board games, arts and crafts, a movie or an open gym with a bunch of random sports equipment.
 +

 +
As of 24.1, Casino Night has been sadly discontinued.
 +

 +
Canon Songs (As of 24.1)
 +
*American Pie
 +
*Mr. Brightside
 +

 +
*Love Story by Taylor Swift
 +
*Let it go from Frozen
 +
*Iris by The Goo Dolls

(To be updated further)
 +

 +
Sleepovers
 +
Sleepovers are held Friday nights after the dances and Saturday nights as well. In 11.2, most of the guy halls were permitted to have sleepovers every night as long as the RA was not able to hear them and their lights were out. This caused many problems with staying awake in their classes. In 19.1, one dorm hall tried to have a sleepover in the lobby with mattresses on the couches, but that was disbanded after the SRA said that having sleepovers in the lobby violated the fire code.
 +

 +

 +
As of 23.2, sleepovers are mostly banned, except maybe on the last night, where RAs choose not to look.
 +

 +
Traditions
 +
* The Game, as at most sites, is prevalent at Bristol. As of 23.2, The Game goes unknown at Bristol.
 +
* Blammo has been independently organized every session.
 +
* The carnival/fair, "Colombian Fathers."
 +
* Instead of the carnival/fair, the mandatory fun event "Game Show" is put on. It's like Water Day, but indoors and with no water. Activities include a spelling bee, nocking down cups blindfolded, hanging stuffed animals, relay races, and ping pong but with tennis rackets. The top two teams select an representative to compete in a trivia competition. In 23.2, The winner of said trivia competition got to skip the lunch lines for one week.
 +
* Movie Festival is time allocated to just...watch movies. They give out popcorn!
 +
* Castles (It was the best when Jay Ben was in charge)
 +
* Casino night is held on the first or second weekend of camp, which consists of betting games and fake money. While RA's discourages the act of stealing fake money, many CTYers steal hundreds of dollars from each other and the bank. If caught stealing, the perpetrator gets sent to "jail," a corner in the Global Heritage Hall. A secret white bag may appear during casino night, but beware that putting money in the white bag as storage may result in forfeiting all the money.
 +
* In 14.2, "Mr. Brightside" was added to the Canon per request of Dom, the Engineering and Design instructor.
 +
* Bristol tried out Color Wars in 19.1, except no one wanted to watch.
 +
* Water Day is a common tradition, but it was not upheld in 14.2 because of rain. It was upheld in 23.1 and 23.2. It includes games such as drip drip drop (duck duck goose without duck or geese), beer pong with no beer but water instead, tug of war and more. The prize is to dump a bucket of cold water on on RA of the winning team's choice.
 +
* Spirit week is during the last week, but students are not required to participate. In 15.2, spirit days included Twin Day and Jersey Day. In 23.2 this included Wacky Wednesday (the friendly way to advertise drag day/swap day) and Dress Like your RA Day.
 +
* There are staff versus student games. The first weekend was a basketball game but we ran out of time to play the staff so it was just students. The second week was soccer, and it was better organized. There were rotating student teams against one staff team. In 23.2, it was the opposite, with the soccer game being first, on the second weekend, while the basketball game was on the last Thursday. They held an activity the day prior to make a student team, and that chosen/winning team would face the adults. The soccer game was poorly organized and narrated, but students won! The basketball game was well done, but despite valiant efforts, students lost.
 +

 +
The Fourth of July Parade
 +
During Session 1, students attend the July 4th parade and Carnival in Bristol. (Bristol held the first July 4th Celebration in the United States.) This tradition, for no apparent reason, was not upheld in 2008 or 2010. Students in 12.1 were not taken because of a big chance that it would rain; it never did. In 13.1, there was a petition that the majority of the site signed; Tracy (or another nevermore) wrote the letter. During a hall meeting, students received the response of the Site Director: there weren't enough staff to supervise CTYers. At night, students skipped class and watched a movie on the grass. Lots of couples had the time to make out, but RAs would walk around and cock block with a flashlight on. Fireworks were being shot on the other side of the bridge. In 19.1, the July 4th parade was not upheld.
 +

 +
The Yachtsman
 +
The Yachtsman is an urban legend told by the RAs to explain and enforce Bristol's strict rules. The story goes something like this...
 +

 +
<blockquote>
 +
In the summer of 2003, CTYers at Bristol were allowed to take kayaks out into the water near RWU. CTY was always careful about which students they would allow on the outings. He fell out of his kayak and (seeing that the boy wasn't swimming) the professor jumped in after him and managed to get the boy back in his kayak, but hit his own head in the effort. The professor passed out in the water and was announced dead at an all-site meeting later that day.
 +

 +
For the next few days, life at CTY went on as planned. Students went to class, meals, and activities like they always had, and talk of the professor's death faded. This didn't last long.
 +

 +
The same male student who had weaseled his way onto the outing went missing a few days later. The site passed it off as an expulsion for breaking such an important rule and, again, life went on at CTY Bristol. Rumors spread until the entire site was dominated by one story: The drowned professor had left a warning that he would be handling misbehaving students in his own manner, and he was the reason for the boy's disappearance.

Activities
 +
Bristol is an athletic site, so sports are an important part of activities and general site fun. Popular sports include Foursquare (yes, it's a sport), basketball, volleyball, Ultimate Frisbee, and soccer. Most sessions, a student versus staff sporting event is held. In 13.2, there were two: a soccer game and a basketball game. In 14.2, it was an Ultimate Frisbee game. In 23.1 and 23.2 there was a staff versus student basketball game and soccer game. Students won soccer, Staff won basketball.

Bristol is a CAA and Baby CTY site located at Roger Williams University in Bristol, Rhode Island.

Site Overview

While considered to be one of the stricter sites in the program, Bristol is still enjoyable for students. It rarely rains in Bristol, and the sun is always out, making it a pleasant 80 degrees most of the time. There are beautiful views of the ocean and it is a very green, open campus.

The Site Director and Administrative Staff will give a stern presentation on consent, respect, etc. on the very first day, including hilarious skits (in which she never actually says yes).

Stonewall Terrace I-IV

23.2 Edit:

Most of the Stonewalls have a vending machine, but Stonewall 1 has the best drinks and food (you can get into the building by going with the kids who need medication). Stonewall 4 has no vending machines or water fountain.

For any musically gifted CTYers, there is unfortunately no private space to practice. You must store your instrument in your room/dorm, and practice there as well. You may use an empty dorm room for storage and practice, if space allows, but it makes little difference compared to your room.

There was an issue with items being stolen in Stonewall 4 session 23.2. CTY and RW Safety has looked into the issue, but there are no updates currently. Lock your doors!

The Quad

The Quad has an actual name, but nobody refers to it as anything but The Quad, so knowing it is completely useless. The Quad is home to social time, meals on the Fourth of July when the Commons is closed, and many activities. The Quad used to have a lovely ocean view, but the addition of a new research facility (called the Global Heritage Hall) has blocked it. The Quad has a statue of Roger Williams on a giant rock, but no CTYers are allowed to go on the rock.

The Frog Pond

Many classes choose to take their breaks, or even have their classes, here. It is halfway between Stonewall Terrace and the Commons. All students pass the pond a minimum of six times a day, but students are forbidden to go near it unless brought there by a faculty or staff member. Frog watching, an activity that pops up now and then, takes place here. During 12.2, Plasma swam in the Frog Pond!

The Couples' Rock

The Couples' Rock is a common place for the CTY couples to hang out and not get punished for PDA during social time. While no one is allowed on the Rock itself, campers are allowed near or around the rock. The Rock sits in front of Stonewall III and in front of the Frog Pond. The Rock is surrounded by a few picnic tables and is the location for social time five nights per week.

As of 23.2, the Rock is not used at all, except for Passion Fruit. Speak loudly if you are presenting a speech, because it is impossible to hear.

As of 24.1, the Rock is available for all during both breaks and quad time.

Dining Hall

The cafeteria's food quality is good, although the variety is low. The salad/fruit bar has a wide variety of healthy options for those looking for it in dorm food. The fries or onion rings with the cheese sauce are quite good together. "Home-made" mac & cheese, which is adding the cheese sauce from The Grill to the macaroni from La Cucina, is good. Sometimes they have tea, which is also very good. The strategy is to take many tea bags when they have it to make tea on the days they don't have tea out.

Other Locations

 • Recreation Center (AKA The Field House): Home to the gym, a small billiards room and the swimming pool. Most assemblies (e.g. talent show, opening ceremony, all-site meetings) and dances occur in the gym.
 • The Commons: Home to the Dining Hall and Bookstore.
 • CAS: Where the humanities, writing, and math classes are held. The only science class held here is Whales.
 • The School of Engineering: Where some of the classes are held, including Engineering and Astronomy.
 • Marine and Natural Science: Abbreviated as MNS, it is where most of the science classes are held, including Biotech, Zoology, Chemistry, and Anatomy.
 • The Business School: Located on the opposite side of the library on The Quad, this building houses the computer science courses, but other classes occasionally take advantage of the computer labs inside of the building. The building is always open, and there are bathrooms if you ever need them during Quad time.
 • The Soccer Field: It's a soccer field. The Staff v. Student soccer game is played here.
 • The Basketball Court: It's a basketball court. The Staff v. Student game is not played here.
 • Tennis Courts and Staff Lodging: The tennis courts are located past the basketball courts and soccer field.
 • The Beaches: If you follow the path behind the Global Heritage Hall, you will stumble upon a wonderful view of the ocean.
 • The Huge Field above the parking lot that I don't know the name of: As the name suggests, it's a huge field. This is where Water Day is held. It also hosts activities, such as kickball.
 • Global Heritage Hall (GHH): The thing blocking the view from the rock, where dances are hosted, and where some classes, namely International Politics and Astronomy, are hosted.

Student Life

Dances

Dances occur on the first and second Fridays and the third Thursday. They will be held in the Global Heritage Hall. The auditorium will have a movie, or on the last dance, a slideshow with all the fun memories you've made. The outside patio is also open. Despite Staff insistence on it only being used for those who "need a moment" from the dance and to be used only for five minutes, people will openly hang out and chill there. Snacks and water are offered.

As of 24.1, Casino Night has been sadly discontinued.

Canon Songs (As of 24.1)

 • American Pie
 • Mr. Brightside
 • Love Story by Taylor Swift
 • Let it go from Frozen
 • Iris by The Goo Dolls

(To be updated further)

Sleepovers

Sleepovers are held Friday nights after the dances and Saturday nights as well. In 11.2, most of the guy halls were permitted to have sleepovers every night as long as the RA was not able to hear them and their lights were out. This caused many problems with staying awake in their classes. In 19.1, one dorm hall tried to have a sleepover in the lobby with mattresses on the couches, but that was disbanded after the SRA said that having sleepovers in the lobby violated the fire code.

As of 23.2, sleepovers are mostly banned, except maybe on the last night, where RAs choose not to look.

Traditions

 • The Game, as at most sites, is prevalent at Bristol. As of 23.2, The Game goes unknown at Bristol.
 • Blammo has been independently organized every session.
 • The carnival/fair, "Colombian Fathers."
 • Instead of the carnival/fair, the mandatory fun event "Game Show" is put on.
 • Movie Festival is time allocated to just...watch movies. They give out popcorn!
 • Castles (It was the best when Jay Ben was in charge)
 • Casino night is held on the first or second weekend of camp, which consists of betting games and fake money.
 • In 14.2, "Mr. Brightside" was added to the Canon per request of Dom, the Engineering and Design instructor.
 • Bristol tried out Color Wars in 19.1, except no one wanted to watch.
 • Water Day is a common tradition, but it was not upheld in 14.2 because of rain. It was upheld in 23.1 and 23.2. It includes games such as drip drip drop (duck duck goose without duck or geese), beer pong with no beer but water instead, tug of war and more. The prize is to dump a bucket of cold water on on RA of the winning team's choice.
 • Spirit week is during the last week, but students are not required to participate. In 15.2, spirit days included Twin Day and Jersey Day. In 23.2 this included Wacky Wednesday (the friendly way to advertise drag day/swap day) and Dress Like your RA Day.
 • There are staff versus student games.

The Fourth of July Parade

The Yachtsman

The Yachtsman is an urban legend told by the RAs to explain and enforce Bristol's strict rules. The story goes something like this...

In the summer of 2003, CTYers at Bristol were allowed to take kayaks out into the water near RWU. CTY was always careful about which students they would allow on the outings. He fell out of his kayak and (seeing that the boy wasn't swimming) the professor jumped in after him and managed to get the boy back in his kayak, but hit his own head in the effort. The professor passed out in the water and was announced dead at an all-site meeting later that day.

For the next few days, life at CTY went on as planned. Students went to class, meals, and activities like they always had, and talk of the professor's death faded. This didn't last long.

Activities

Bristol is an athletic site, so sports are an important part of activities and general site fun. Popular sports include Foursquare (yes, it's a sport), basketball, volleyball, Ultimate Frisbee, and soccer. Most sessions, a student versus staff sporting event is held. In 13.2, there were two: a soccer game and a basketball game. In 14.2, it was an Ultimate Frisbee game. In 23.1 and 23.2 there was a staff versus student basketball game and soccer game. Students won soccer, Staff won basketball.
