"Iris" is a song by The Goo Goo Dolls, which became wildly popular at Lancaster07. Every time anyone played the song everyone who heard it sang along. It was commonly requested at dances, and played out loud using student owned mp3 players and speakers. (The ease of transportation of MP3 Player speakers caused them to be a common feature in almost every used coed lounge on campus.) Many students identified with the song and thought it was a good representation for the way they felt about leaving CTY. Iris, Mr. Brightside, Dr. Mario and Every time we Touch are collectively referred to as the "sub canon". That is, they are played at most dances and are enjoyed by the majority of the student population but have not officially become canon songs. I believe the Iris craze began in Lan06.2 when a student dance to it during the talent show. The Alcove T shirt for Lan07.2 will feature the last two lines of the first verse of "Iris".

The full lyrics are as follows:

And I'd give up forever to touch you
Cause I know that you feel me somehow
You're the closest to heaven that I'll ever be
And I don't want to go home right now

And all I can taste is this moment
And all I can breathe is your life
Cause sooner or later it's over
I just don't want to miss you tonight

And I don't want the world to see me
Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am

And you can't fight the tears that ain't coming
Or the moment of truth in your lies
When everything feels like the movies
Yeah you bleed just to know you're alive

And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am

And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am

And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am

I just want you to know who I am
I just want you to know who I am
I just want you to know who I am
