Iris

"Iris" by The Goo Goo Dolls is a song which became wildly popular at LAN.07.2. Each time anyone played the song, all those in earshot (Alcovians particularly) sang along. It was commonly requested at dances, and played out loud using student-owned mp3 players and speakers. (The ease of transportation of speakers led to their appearance as a common feature in almost every coed lounge on campus.) Many students identified with the song and thought it was a good representation for the way they felt about leaving CTY.

It is also one of the main disco songs in the Centre for Talented Youth in Ireland.

"Iris," "Mr. Brightside," "Dr. Mario" (for second session) and "Everytime We Touch" are collectively referred to as the "Sub Canon" by some. That is, they are played at most dances and have traditional importance, but have not officially become canon songs.

The Alcove T-shirt for LAN.07.2 features the last two lines of the first verse of "Iris", namely:
