Sorry about your email confirmation troubles. Can you try to request another email (probably from Preferences) and see if that works? If not, I'll try to look into it sometime soon—feel free to bother me about it if it's taking a long time. (I don't think not verifying is a problem for editing, is that right? It just means people can't email you, which is hopefully not so bad.)
