This course covers an extensive amount of material comparable to the first year of a traditional high school French course or in the first semester of beginning college French. By using French as the primary means of communication from the first hour, students make rapid progress in acquiring basic language skills and speaking with a natural accent. Role-playing and dialogues supplement written and oral drills and exercises. Students are expected to memorize a large amount material in a short time. Prior knowledge of French is not required or assumed. CTY strongly recommends that students who take CTY French 1 continue immediately into French 2, either in the second session at CTY or in the 1996-97 academic year. | This course covers an extensive amount of material comparable to the first year of a traditional high school French course or in the first semester of beginning college French.
