Existentialism is a Humanities course in the CTY program with no prerequisites. Its course code is EXIT, and it is offered at Carlisle as well as having been offered at Loudonville (first session only).
Course Description
Existentialism is an introduction to the philosophy concerning existence and the meaning of life. It is often merely an introductory philosophy course because of the general lack of background in philosophy. Students are dedicated to fierce debate about abstract theories and trying to figure out what existentialism actually is without admitting they don't know. Readings may include Kant, Nietzsche, Sartre, Camus, Dostoevsky, Beckett, Heidegger, and a smattering of the rest.
