Music Theory was a CTY Humanities course. Its course code was MUST. Your prerequisites were to have a written recommendation from your music instructor and have at least 3 years of private study on a musical instrument. This course was offered at Carlisle and Kaneohe
Course Description
From the CTY Course Catalog (1997):
Music Theory helps students further their understanding of music symbols and also provides them with opportunities to explore the relationships of these symbols within the context of a musical score. A thorough understanding of the major/minor scale system is stressed, including intervallic relationships and triadic and seventh-chord harmonies. A study of rhythm and meter is also covered. All students should gain a better understanding of the basics of music theory, a broadening of musical vocabulary, and a chance to apply concepts learned in class in their own compositions. The course includes written, oral, and aural exercises and provides students with a solid foundation for further study towards the Advanced Placement Examination in Music Theory.
