From the CTY Course Catalog (2007): In this course students explore the interplay between Chinese and western medicine. Topics include the use of acupuncture and its role in pain management; the role of spirituality in the healing arts; and the divergent systems’ basic approaches to disease and patient care. Throughout, students look at the history, philosophy, and science that determine the similarities and differences of the two approaches. In addition, students examine ongoing shifts in western medicine as physicians look to learn from the Chinese healing arts.
