Course Description

The constant introduction of new technologies continues to transform the cultural, political, and economic role of the media. Students in this course explore types of media ranging from the printed word to radio to film to digital technologies as they examine key media institutions and their roles during this time of transition. Through hands-on work in media labs, critical reading of central texts, conversations, and analytic writing students work to gain a better understanding of the media today and its ongoing impact on society.
