Taking Action: Leadership and Service, formerly known as Youth and Society: Service Learning, is a Humanities course in the CTY program with no prerequisites. Its course code is SERV, and it is offered only at Baltimore.
Course Description
Service Learning is a social issues survey in which students learn about and debate with an attempt to solve various social issues. The course is more focused on reading than writing. Also included are various educational trips to places including Washington, DC, a soup kitchen (Our Daily Bread) and a nonprofit theater (Centerstage).

JHU.08.2 was taught by Dr. Davis-Hayes, who was known as DH, Doctor, or the Love Doctor. Julie Ritchick was the TA.
