Selected Topics in Advanced Chemistry
Selected Topics in Advanced Chemistry (ACHM) was a CTY Science course, very similar to Selected Topics in Advanced Biology, in that it was an AP type course. Students must have completed Fast Paced High School Chemistry to participate. It was only offered at Lancaster.
Course Description
From the CTY Course Catalog (2003):
This course covers concepts typically found in a first-year college biology course, including a substantial amount (but not all) of the AP Biology syllabus provided by the College Board. Students explore molecular biology and cells, genetics and evolution, and organisms and populations. They also consider current biotechnological topics and complex questions of ecology. Lab exercises range from DNA and protein sequencing to analyzing gene expression.
Note: While this course is designed to help students prepare for the AP Biology Examination in May 2004 and gives them sufficient lab experience for the exam, students should arrange with their schools to complete the AP curriculum before taking the examination.
