The Process of Writing is a CTY Online course that requires a qualifying verbal score and proficiency in Standard Written English. The course is at a high school junior level and is geared toward 5-6th graders. Its course code is EMA1 and it is 6-20 weeks long depending on when the student takes the course. Students complete three projects during the course: a poem, a nonfiction narrative, and a fiction narrative. They also complete an assignment for each project based on the three stages of writing, and make an autobiographical sketch. Comments from the instructor are critical in this course.
