Linear Algebra
Linear Algebra (LINA) was a CTY math course that focused on algebra using graphs and linear equations. It was offered only at Lancaster.
Course Description
From the CTY Course Catalog (1996):
Linear Algebra is important in the study of both pure and applied mathematics. Students in this class learn proofs, solve linear systems, and study vector spaces, elementary matrix theory, linear transformations, eigenvectors, and eigenvalues. They are introduced to some of the fascinating applications of linear algebra in the fields of physics, economics, chemistry, statistics, and business.
Linear algebra is usually offered to college students after completion of two semesters of calculus. Much of linear algebra, however, is accessible to students without a calculus background. Consequently, this course is open not only to those who have completed some calculus, but also to motivated students with a strong precalculus background.
