Lancarlisle is not a place that exists. Rather, it is the surviving bits and pieces of Lancaster traditions, staff, and students which/who have migrated to Carlisle since Lancaster's closure and Carlisle's reopening. It is also the new stuff that has sprung up around us and the Carlisle traditions that, while dead when Lancastrians came, has been (at least partially) revived and/or incorporated into Lancaster traditions. This page is most likely not really going to resemble anything even close to complete for quite a while, as much of this is up in the air and not super well established, but it's still probably worth getting this down.

Lancaster Stuff

Positions

Pretty much all the Lancaster positions that survived the pandemic have transferred over to Lancarlisle, so here's a list by session:

Activities

Acting Improv has made a strong return to CAR after having not been run since 03.1, thanks to its persistence at LAN. Starcrash has also proven strong.

Carlisle Stuff

Since CAR only ran for one session of 80 people, few traditions really survived the pandemic. However, there have been and are efforts to revive dead traditions and to preserve ones that are still alive. Most notable of the surviving traditions are Welcome to the Black Parade, in which we just try to remember what Gaynor did at the first dance of 24.2 and the dates for special days. There is also an effort to potentially revive Poetry Night for 2026 presently in the works. My Immortal may or may not still be alive. And of course, Starcrash lives on. Also, there was a glorious return of RA Gaynor Has A Story For Everything ("Gaylore" - anya) in 24.2, although it is unclear whether RA Gaynor will return.

New Stuff

Since there have so far only been 2 years of CTY at the revived CAR, this is going to be pretty barren for a while, but it will probably get filled in over the coming years.

Positions

  • The Seer
    • The Seer has an opposing group, the heretics, who want to KILL JOSHIFER. Conversely, the supporters of the Seer PRAISE JOSHIFER.
  • Poetry Goddess
    • This position is undergoing a revival and it will be present for CAR 26.1 and 26.2.
  • The Cult of the Rain God
    • The Cult of the Rain God became a CTY tradition due to Lancarlisle, as the founders were forced to migrate to Carlisle after Lancaster had closed. From there, it grew to prominace during both 2024 sessions at Carlisle. Shouts of "Praise the rain" can be heard while CTY is in session, and "Ptriltg" is ever present in online CTY communities. Within the Cult, there are four new positions that were introduced: Lamplighter, Shadegiver, Cloakbearer, and Urnkeeper.
  • Holder of the Duck 1.0
    • While the Holder of the Duck was a Lancaster position, the Duck 1.0 was created at CAR 24.2 and first experienced a full session at CAR 25.1.

Things/Activities

  • Doing the Macarena for pretty much every non-canon song at the dances. (Especially Fein.) This is genuinely a thing I'm not even kidding.
  • Eating ungodly amounts of soft serve at the HUB.
